corksport is loud!! the R.B. will sound sooo much better, believe me, i have the corksport and am installing two large mufflers to help quiet it down, here is the 80mm turbo back corksport just at an idle

Its hard to tell. i hear that belt a lot more than the engine itself. Lol. How about puting an Ni universal on it? I think thats what i pay end up doing myslef if i go with the cs. Your engine bay looks good though.

do any of you guys have experience with apexi gt spec exhaust? Know the inlet diameters? I called apex about it but they seem to have missmatch info on them right now. ?

65 then 75 then 85(mm). it tapers.

The racing beat exhaust is the best looking exhaust you can get for FC but its really heavy. The corksport looks ricey but is a lot lighter than the true duals. I have the true duals on my FC. Its the best sounding exhaust out in the market imo. It has a low brap sound but once the aux ports open then it just sounds exhilarating.

RB = looks and sound
Corksport = light weight

I think it equals out but the car would naturally "breathe" better with the true duals because of the non intertwining pipes.

ahh the symphonic sounds of spinning rotors and wasted fuel

ya that sounds good. Im not na though.

SirCygnus 03-29-11 10:25 AM

doesnt anyone ever mention that the racing beat doesnt fit very well at all?

Linguo415 03-29-11 01:09 PM

Why would it not fit?

? my RB exhaust fit great. you just have to hang the whole thing before you tighten all the flanges.

my N1 single sucked, it hit the subframe over EVERY bump....

MaczPayne 03-29-11 02:49 PM

RB's from inside my old car:

i opted for CS on my car. its a little loud, but all my vehicles have had an exhaust leak on them of some sort so it dusnt bother me. i do have to give that RB dose sound a bit nicer, but it also costs a little more. heres a vid of my car on the top of a parking garage. i have some others as well, but they all were filmed on an iphone, so its not the best quality recording.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8r9OMTnV0k

car at the time of the recording just has emissions removal and the exhaust on it.

Linguo415 03-29-11 03:06 PM

they both sound good in these clips. Thanks. Maczpayne is haulin ass! lol

MaczPayne 03-29-11 05:39 PM

I missed the RB, too bad it got damaged in the crash :(

Replaced the y-pipe back with a kakimoto single on the new car

What are you running now? Or are you even pushing an fc anymore?

SirCygnus 03-29-11 08:17 PM

my setup... apexi gt with cork sport muffled midpipe.

I have a red FC now, moved all the good bits over from the black FC.

Running the RB Rev TII downpipe and pre-silencer, mated to a Kakimoto (Full Mega N1 I believe) 3" single, not really applicable since it's neither an RB or CS haha.

Haha. I know the thread is rb vs cs but I'm open to suggestion also.

MaczPayne 03-30-11 12:33 AM

LAN has the RB DP and Presilencer mated to a CS catback, and it sounds pretty good I must say. He had a muffler shop make a piece to adapt the two though, shouldn't be too hard if you're the crafty type.

The system I have sounds similar, if not deeper. I won't say get one like mine, because I haven't seen one like mine in many years.

This is one of the set ups ive been cosidering also. This and the Ni are my favorite exhaust out of the ones i know so far. I just tend to dismis them because they cost so much for just cat back systems. I feel like you get more for the money from the other two said set ups. Unless i can find a great deal on either of the Apexi systems.

So considering that the taper starts at stock size on the gt does that mean that it will flow lessThan its larger competitors? Or os this also a misconseption? How much power do you guys think that its good for?

Hey, I'm new to the forum and had a question about exhaust. I've been doing research all winter on exhaust and have decided on the RB REV. My question is can i get away with installing the RB with only a wastegate port and a boost controller at 8lbs with a FCD? Or even not installing an FCD and having the computer there for safety? I plan soon in the future to run a Rtek 1.8 with 720's, fuel pump and re-wire, and a wideband o2, but I don't have the cash now. Could I get away with my question and still be safe or will I still run the risk of boosting to high and running lean? Please help. Thanks!

Apparently it's relatively safe. I'm doing the same thing with a diff exhaust. Overboost is the bigger problem. You don't need an fcd with Rtek. It's build in already so just wait till you have everything ready to be put on. I don't think stock ecu is safer than anything else. Rtek has better mapping. I don't think you need the boost controler at that low of boost. I'm no pro though.

If you have the money, go racing beat, great product, I have had it in my car at one time, sounds great and will add h.p. along with an extra 2-4psi of boost, fcd is a must, so it comes down to....do u have the money???? Racing beat hands down...

Are there any clips of LANs set up on youtube or anywhere else? Idk who LAN is.

So IMO pick exhausts based on sound preference since HP is probably similar.

This should be the Cliffe Notes for the thread.

Corksport = very loud
RB = quiet and subtle

Choose between well built exhausts based on look and sound, not HP claims from the manufacturer.
