Ratings on Wrecks in a RX7

I haven't found a website that gives a good rating on a 2nd gen rx7 being wrecked. I just want to know what everyone thinks of them.

clokker 10-28-08 04:58 AM

I prefer mine unwrecked.

If you're asking about crashworthiness, I have no idea and hope never to find out.

mazdaverx713b 10-28-08 04:58 AM

are you talking about the national institute for highway safety crash ratings?

It's safer than a Yugo :p

hurleysurf24 10-28-08 10:20 AM

this has been brought up several times .. go look at the thread. this car is actually built extremely well. many of us have walked away from what should have been fatal car accidents.

roll-overs are a different story than being hit head-on, at an angle, or t-boned.

besides..... the driver was stupid enough to be driving on a cold or damp mountain road

The 4 star rating (Driver/Passenger) is from the NHTSA, not something I envisioned because of the wreck.

4 star rating is equal to a volvo of the same period, and is better than mercedes/bmw.

Hazard15301 10-28-08 01:25 PM

hm.. nevermind.

ITSWILL 10-28-08 01:25 PM

"NO Brakes" makes me laugh every time

then there is also that hand brake thing
and you can downshift

hurleysurf24 10-28-08 01:38 PM

yea i was about to say .... but if you enter a situation expecting something to happen, and are use to business as usual ... you are not prepared for the unlikely circumstance of what happened.

when you are going that fast into a corner and at the last second realize you don't have brakesdon't realize its already to late to downshift or yank the ebrake

FYI ... car holds up well in roll overs

Isn't this the rating you are looking for?

RX7freak08 10-28-08 08:33 PM

not really like what was the rating of a T-bone wreck, and rating on a head on, rating on rear end, and well I got a couple of ratings on flipped rx7s.lol.

ITSWILL 10-29-08 06:55 AM

Yeah I dont know all of those items specifically. I would be interested to know though, so please post them up when you find out.

Obviously you couldn't find any information, so here's the list and then you can do the interpretation:

i just bought a wreaked s4 off a guy who rolled it twice, he was in a come for a week but lived. He told me when he woke up he was fine, but forgot how to stop when he started walking so he was walking into walls for a few weeks.

kustomizingkid 10-29-08 06:40 PM

My friend flipped his 7 into a ditch this summer going somewhere between 50-70 mph... the car rolled, but him and another friend walked away....

KompressorLOgic 10-29-08 06:49 PM

i was tboned by a midsized sedan going around 40-45 mph, and walkled away with only a slgiht mark on my neck from the seat belt.

Search forums. People walk away unscratched from crazy accidents all the time. Myself included.

kustomizingkid 10-29-08 08:55 PM

It seams like getting in crazy ass accidents is common for RX7 drivers... think they are in an F1 car on a race track and know how to drive lol...

hondakillerfc 10-29-08 09:00 PM

40bucks for the hood.

Back when I was stupid and thought I knew how to drive (16 year old know it all lol). I hit a tree head on with an estimated impact speed of 105mph (according to the state cops). My friend was with me, he wasn't hurt at all, seat belt bruise. I got the worse end of the wreck, but it was kind of a freak thing instead of a flaw in the car, the VIN number plate detached from its rivets on the dash panel and went through my left eyelid (without actually hittin my eye, extremely lucky) and that plus a seat belt bruise were all I had happen. I also know a few other people that have been hit head on with about the same impact speeds that had the same experience (not the vin number, the injuries in general) just seat belt bruises for the most part. They hold up really well in every non roll over I've seen them in.

Anyways, in my experience and opinion (based on my personal crash, and seeing quite a few others) they would be rated very well on safety.
