pully for fd alternator for a fc, how many people can we get?

trying to see how many people we can get together to get these pullys

higgi is considering making another batch of these pullys if we can get enough people together

hopefully higgi will chime in regarding colors and price

***********also see othe machined parts higgi has for sale*******************

move this thread if needed

Juiceh 12-22-07 10:33 PM

Yes please! I've been waiting forever to get one of these from Higgi when he makes them again. I have seen MANY people in the past expressing interest in these.

Bronze MFP 12-22-07 10:41 PM

sorry for my ignorance, but what benefit is the FD pully?
is it the dual pully for the alt/water pump by any chance?

Juiceh 12-22-07 10:44 PM

Its a dual belt pulley for use with an FD alt in an FC.

Higgi's version has a nice rotor shape on the front too. Last time I saw pics of them he made them in many different colors.

RETed 12-22-07 11:09 PM

Tell hIGGI to get in touch with me if he's serious.
I'll stock them and make it easier for the US guys to purchase.

Bronze MFP 12-22-07 11:12 PM

how much do these normally run? i'd be very interested if the price is right.
1 dinky belt running my water pump does not sit well with me

Wizz 12-22-07 11:17 PM

I'm in.

I have one from my FC alt, but since I upgraded to the FD alt the FC pulley has been sitting in my tool box.

And I agree w/ Ted. It would make it a little easier.

Mindspin311 12-22-07 11:18 PM

Id be interested in one

Silverfc88 12-22-07 11:34 PM

I picked one up earlier this year from banzaitoyota.

AUGieDogie 12-23-07 01:32 AM

I have one and these are very nice! I love that its not an underdrive pulley

Project84 12-23-07 02:31 AM

I NEED one. The one I got from a Canadian source (which will remain nameless only because I forgot who I got it from) is not machined correctly. One Groove is deeper than the other and it keeps breaking 1 belt.

Attila the Fun 12-23-07 06:19 AM

Please add me to the list, if they become available.

LogicFoxX 12-23-07 07:34 AM

Seen em on on ebay yesterday, but yea I'm all for it, though I don't need one at the moment.

Gringo Grande 12-23-07 09:06 AM

I'll take two and I'd prepay.

throughthewire 12-23-07 09:15 AM

What's the purpose of dual belts? I have an essentially stock S4 N/A, and it's likely to stay that way for a while. Where does the 2nd belt go?

88rxn/a 12-23-07 09:51 AM

i need one depending on price...itll go with my higgi elbow!!!
LOL

J-Rat 12-23-07 11:41 AM

Ive got the Higgitrix dual alt pulley as well on my FC. Freakin love that thing. If he makes more I will probably get one for my wifes FC.

Jager 12-23-07 01:22 PM

This would be cheaper then the local dude selling Gilmore pullies.

many people mod the engine to the point where the only things that the belts go around are the main crank, the water pump and the alternator. With those three items being nearly vertical from each other, their is not very much tension between the 1 stock belt and the water pump pulley (which is in the middle of the 3). Enter the dual belt pulley. It adds more belt action to the pulley, and its cheaper then buying all new pulleys to incorporate a serpentine belt or something like you see on a supercharger.

hIGGI 12-23-07 03:48 PM

before we will waste any more words, i would like to mention one thing :

USD is now worth half of what it was in time when pulleys did cost $50 including shipping...that would make price of pulley around $100...

i am very aware of that and thats one of the main reasons, why dont really push any products anymore, its just not worth it, or it gets too expensive to find any buyers...

I am always serious, i just dont seems to be able to find you online on AIM/YM or whatever u like, i have all :D

Gringo Grande 12-23-07 08:58 PM

Ted,

If Higgi (understandably) is unwilling to sell to individuals due to fear of them backing out because of increased price...which I understand since I work with several individuals and company's in Eastern Europe...please PM me when you have some and I'll purchase immediately.

GG

cozmosland 12-23-07 09:03 PM

i would love to buy one

texFCturboII 12-23-07 09:23 PM

I'm down, Ted, let us know when / if you are going to stock them please!

88rxn/a 12-23-07 11:29 PM

i say get a non refundable deposit before you begin making them...then make em...then you know for sure you wont lose out.

RotaryResurrection 12-24-07 01:49 AM

Son of a bitch, and I just bought one of banzai's w/o the rotor. But, for half the price, I can live without the rotor I guess. F*** it, I'll powdercoat one on there. :D

V8slayer 12-24-07 08:36 AM

want 1

red_s5_fc3s 12-24-07 10:17 AM

I'm in!

s5fc3sturbo 12-24-07 10:34 AM

im in for one. would it be possible to get it without the rotor shape to it though

RotaryResurrection 12-24-07 01:58 PM

IF you want one w/o the rotor, just get this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RX-7-...spagenameZWD1V

RotaryResurrection 12-24-07 05:33 PM

Holy shit, I guess I was wrong. the $45 pulley from banzai has the rotor machined into it! I could not tell based on the small pics on the ebay site. This thing kicks ass!

Silverfc88 12-24-07 05:38 PM

Yeah thats the one I'm running. Great price and great quality.

hIGGI 12-25-07 04:21 AM

guess whole question is solved then......get it from banzaitoyota :D

cozmosland 12-28-07 10:24 AM

it says it eliminates water pump slippage when the airpump is removed....

will it work the same if the airpump is still there?

J-Rat 12-28-07 11:56 AM

No colors though!

:(

My Higgi pulley is anodized blue!

cozmosland 12-28-07 12:16 PM

anyone know?

No. Thats the point of the dual sheath pulley, to restore the 2nd belt on the waterpump that gets eliminated when you ditch the airpump. If you're still running an airpump, you already have both belts on the waterpump and thus can't fit a 2nd belt on the alternator.

isn't there an off the shelf pully with the right dimensions already?

ViperBart 12-28-07 03:51 PM

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/RX-7-...spagenameZWD1V

I think that might be as close as "off the shelf" your gonna get.

Akagis_white_comet 12-29-07 10:31 PM

I am in need of this pulley as well.

RotaryResurrection 12-29-07 11:47 PM

I think banzai has them in stock?

Gringo Grande 12-30-07 02:56 PM

I just ordered one from Banzai as well. Looks good!

GG

dean23 12-30-07 03:30 PM

my FD pulley has an "extension" off hte back to serve as a spacer on the drive-shaft. is this normal? because most of the dual pully ones ive seen do not have this extension.

It's normal for an FD pulley...

+1 just ordered one too.

dean23 01-01-08 08:25 PM

i just bought one from banzai and was wondering if it had that "extension" on the back that i was talkin about. it didnt liik like it from the pics... and if no, where an i get a spacer for the pulley?

RotaryResurrection 01-01-08 09:06 PM

It comes ready to install on teh FD alternator, no spacer needed.

The FC alternator uses a small spacer ring and then the pulley parts (they are in halves) go on top of that.

The FD alternator uses a single pulley with the spacer made into it, and no spacer on the shaft.

Banzaitoyota's pulley works the same way.

I did notice that I had to run a couple of small spacer washers with mine, because the back of the pulley would not clear the front of the alternator case. However, I had my alternator and pulley apart and powdercoated, which sometimes affects the fitment clearances of parts. I could have ground on the front of the alternator a little but I just ran 2 of the thin copper crush washers that rx7s use for the oil cooler lines, and its working fine now.

Sideways7 01-01-08 09:52 PM

Awesome, your a lifesaver Kevin! I have a FD alt and the pulley doesn't quite fit (the extension isn't enough). Now I can just use some of my spare oil cooler washers. Baddass.

RotaryResurrection 01-01-08 09:54 PM

dont put a ton of torque on the puley, though, or you'll crush the washers.
