Angry problems

Hey guys, I am having a problem. I put a new hybrid turbo in and the first night it ran perfect.
Now a day later if I go WOT it starts to sputter and complain. I just got home from work and i was looking in the engine bay for stuff that would be out of place and didnt see anything out of place but the turbo was gloing red.
I have checked the vacume lines, and that the tid is not leaking that i can see, the car idles good so I am out of ideas.

Any help would be appritiated.

what's your oil pressure and have you checked your coolant level and condition, have you ever done a block seal or added any sealant to your cooling system?

sounds like your turbo may be overheating and what is causing your trouble, if your oil pressure is low, coolant passages plugged or low on coolant or an extremely rich or lean condition could cause your turbo to overheat and raise intake temps and cause boost and lack of power problems. the exhaust will get hot under certain circumstances but if you are just driving casually i don't believe it should be that hot.

what was the original reason the turbo died from and who rebuilt it and did they inspect it thoroughly?

Oil pressure is normal, The car had a coolant leak yesterday, the one hose on the back of the engine, the car did not overheat, it gave me the warning, fixed it and added cooland. The car is running at 1/4 on the tempature guage.

The original turbo was not boosting above 8psi, my friend had a good working 91 turbo and mani, so he got a rebuild kit and a super h3 compressor and made the hybrid, same as the one on one of his custumers car.

are you sure the cooling system is bled out? the guage temp can fool you into a false sense of security, if there is an air pocket that reached the turbo it could have caused it to warm up and overheat.

that is a very good point, what is the best way to bleed the system? Would this explain the hessitation problem?

I just forgot to put in here, there is a hill on the way from work, and i was driving normal, 4th gear, when the car hit 4 to 5 pound of boost there without being at WOT it did the same thing, the hesatation and sputtering. Thanx for the fast reply's guys. The water and oil lines were check and they were put in the car.

sounds like you could really use a AFR gauge, but it really sounds like it's going silly rich on that hill, but it could also be just going very lean though this is usuallly demonstrated with violent bucking and a blown engine when in boost.

also, glowing red turbine housing? Check your timing lately? If it's way retarded you'll be getting shitloads of combustion in the turbine resulting in a glowing housing and a cooked turbo (eventually).

So confirm timing is right, and make sure the major inputs to the ECU are working alright (and connected properly), boost sensor and AFM in particular.

Pretty funny thread, not for the guy with the problem however.

How the hell does a overheating turbo cause a sputter (maybe a seizure but a sputter??)? Sure, the problem causing the high EGT is what needs to be addressed.

As others have said, check your timing, plug heat range, fuel pressure under boost. Basically, run through the whole system.
