Problem? Solution?
 

Ok, as this is the RX-7 Club, I know what the solution to this question is most likely going to be. I have a 1988 RX-7 GTU, 43,000 org. miles. I was hellbent on converting it to turbo, and throwing the (sub-10,000) dollars I have saved up into making it a nice little monster. But right now, I have the opportunity to buy a 2003 Ford Mustang GT with 18,000 miles for 17,000 dollars. I know the RX7 would make me happy, I love rotary's, and I love working on them. This Mustang deal is just so good though, it's hard to pass up. Also, my parents are set on my having a "newer" car, reliability issues, etc. I've been bouncing from car to car for months now, to keep mine, or not, and I just really, really need some opinions.

solid axle rear end blows, get something with IRS at least

Do what you want, but I'd take my light nimble car over that pig with a 4.6 anyday.

Edit: Ya the Mustang has IRS... 8.8 rear if I remember right

what? i thought mustangs were always solid axle rear?

Dump the RX-7.
Get the Mustang.

They all were solid rear axle except for the 03/04 Cobras.

adrock3217 - They are two completely different cars. Do you want a Mustang with big straight line power and V8 torque, or do you want an FC that you will still have money to mod, handles better, and is lighter. With a TII swap and a couple mods, the FC will be faster than a Mustang anyway. I know what I would do. :D

Dump the FC and buy an FD. 17k will get you a nice FD. Its a newer car so your parents will be happy and it'll smash that stang. Plus it turns heads like no other car. Simple choice really.
