Power steering w/o factory wiring

The search didn't reveal what I wanted or it had dead links...

Anyone hook up their power steering pump without factory wiring? Does it need to have a power source or other inputs to provide power assist? I was wandering thru the wiring diag. and i couldn't really tell if I would get power assist w/o hooking up all the wires.

I am putting it in my race car which doesn't (and never did) have the factory harnesses.

Thanks!

Race cars with power steering must be a Canadian thing....I'd just de-power the rack.

The S5 NA cars had a simpler power steering setup with just one wire going to it, but with a slower rack (in between the S4 and the manual racks). That's probably the easiest way to go.
