poured diesel fuel into my 7
yeah... i accidently poured liek 2 gallons of diesel in my rx7... and it doesn't seem to like it. Anyone know how bad this is for the motor? I'll never use gas from unmarked containers again. ^_^

well, dilute it as much as you can. Since diesel has a very very high flash point, it cant really combust at the compressions our engines run at, i suggest you run out and get some regular low grade octane to thin out the diesel.

I don't know what the results of running this through the combustion cycle would be, but I would first siphon as much as possible out of the tank, then do whatever else you plan to do.

oh yea, i forgot about that, the best thing to do is to drain your fueltank. There is a plug on the bottom side to do this. Then fill the tank up with regular gas and you should be fine.

Put a match down there so it burns it up OR unscrew the gas tank drain plug and empty everything out into a big gulp cup and become a fire breather.

ok, sarcasm-dar was on vacation. but you know that you can actualy put out small flames by pouring deisel on them however that vapors in the tank would be another storry.
y aknow this makes me wonder if there have ever been experiments in deisel rotaries. |
yea, rotaries love detonation. actually, i don't know what makes diesel engines handle it so well.
i almost put diesel in at the pump once. i'm not used to having two choices; most places its just grab and pump. good thing the diesel pump has a different sized nozzle. |

Just pull the drain plug, and drain it out. refill with regular gas...Problem solved!

yeah. diesel won't ignite from a flame but any gas vapors and boom. luckily diesel won't hurt a gas engine, but on the other hand, gas will detonate a diesel. Just drain it the best you can and dilute the rest like everyone else said, it might run shitty for a bit but won't damage anything. oh yeah, replace your fuel filter as well, and the rex should be good as gold.

yeah, i did it cuz i was really low on gas... and we had this container with this "fuel" in it. So i used it. And it would not idle below 2000RPM. So i thought it was bad/old fuel. So then i drove around looking for a gas station while holding the gas pedal constantly at 2500. And diluted it the rest of the way with regular fuel. It wasn't until the next day that i found out it was diesel... my brother was using it to clean our shop tools. ^_^ but it idles now... but very bumpity bumpity. Oh, it also makes me boost a bit more too. I have never seen my boost level off from the wastegate opening before... was kinda worried at first, but figured... ah, it's a bit higher than usual... heh. but the car also smokes like crazy when cold. when i go from a stop light... i smoke so much that the car behind me can't be seen. ^_^ smoke screen baby!!!

yes rolls royce tried to make one back in the day when everyone had their hands on it like GM benz and such rolls I think had one going but not sure anyone have some more info on rolls attempt at the rotary? |
Hmm - parts cleaner fluid in the tank. Ouch..
Replace pump pickup strainer. Replace fuel filter. Clean injectors. Don't do that again! |
u didnt smell the fuel before u put it in...? whenever im using an unmarked container i always get a little smell first... not that i would even think to put something from an unknown in my rex...

What makes diesels handle detonation so well? Everything is forged, not cast :D
Kinda has to be when you're running 18:1-20:1 compression with a blower :D |
A friend of mine had his Ford filled at a service station a couple of years ago. The attendant put diesel in, stopped and filled it the rest of the way with gasoline, but didn't tell him what he had done. The car barely made it home. Checked the car out and detected an unusual odor. Pulled and cleaned out tank and lines. Car fine after that, plus received compensation from station.
