Porting question

Im a little confused on which template to use on which plate, id rather sound like an idiot on here and port it right than port the wrong template on the wrong housing, my camera is conveniently down so i will use a picture of the template i have

so there are two ports on that template, one is longer than the other, in the picture above the longer port of the template is being used on the middle plate correct?

i sound like a noob right now but i want to be 100% sure before i port

The way you have it pictured is correct. That is a secondary port. You can tell by how tall it is.

The other short ports are for the intermediate iron. They are primary ports.

I don't know if I would open as early as the ports show. It depends on what driving style you intend to do. Opening earlier than stock, on primaries anyway, can mess with idle quality. There is a bunch of info on the forum about that, so do some research.

Now you need to answer a question for me. Why does that template have two sets of ports? Is one set more aggressive than the other? Or are they both the same size?

I think it is so you can port the front and rear irons and both sides of the intermediate without having to flip the template over. Always having the logo facing you. At least that's how the ones I used from them for my 6-port was. The two sides of mine were identical.

yes, that template is for a turbo 4 port engine, not a 6 port naturally aspirated engine.

IMO leave the secondary irons alone on a 6 port engine, most of the airflow comes from removing the exhaust diffuser in N/A engines anyways. the primary port on that template will work.

if you really feel like it, install some port sleeve inserts and open up the trailing edge of the large auxiliary port towards the smaller opening, leaving a small portion of the bridge intact but leave the acual auxiliary upper ports be.

Did you order them from Pineapple Racing? If so I would probably talk to them about swaping those for what I ordered, unless you think you may port a turbo sometime in the future. The Pineapple ones don't do much to the secondaries. They pretty much do what RotaryEvolution said you could do to them. Here is a picture I took when I got my template. I did not touch the auxillary ports at all. Only my primaries and secondaries.

nope you're not the idiot, they are because a rotary shop who can't even define a 6 port from a 4 port template is ironic to say the least. may have been a simple mistake but one i am always careful to never make, because i know how it feels for someone to waste my time. not everyone's car is a project with unlimited time and resources devoted to it.
