Pod filter

Hey guys, I put a new K&N pod filter on the RX7 today. Its all connected up correctly and works fine. Makes the car sound way meaner.

I was just wondering how people have their AFM braced. I thought of just letting it hang there. But then i saw a brace from the old air box and connected that to the AFM for a bit more stability and so it doesnt rest on the body. It still moves around alot. Is that normal?

What have you guys done?

You should brace it. Letting it rest on the body subjects it to a lot of impact stresses as it bounces off the inner fender. Also it causes the flapper to vibrate fare more then if it was mounted.

I took a piece of aluminum and bent it into an L - drilled a hole at each end and bolted it to the afm on one side and to the body on the other. The second problem you'll have if you don't brace it is that it'll last about a week if any part of the filter touches anything metal, the vibration just cuts a hole right through it.

I got the little L shaped bracket from next to the radiator and put that on the other bracket on the strut mount and bolted it through the back of the AFM. i reckon it does the job and none of the pod or AFM touches the body
