ya serious.

but your choice.
make one yourself if you want,

when i was making a cover for my friend subwoofers, i got plexiglass from home depot, wll i dunno what sizes they have but i got a pretty decent sized sheet for not much. oh im not sure it was plexiglass, although it was similar, acrylic.

man, instead of going rice, just roll with your hood off, damn.

be sure it doesn't melt with the heat from the motor and the sun. And can paint won't fade in the sunlight, from excessive heat, rain, hail or what ever elements hit it. make it look as stock as possible! - just a few ideas

haha so cops can instantly pull you over without having to ask you to pop ur hood to see if you have any illegal mods.. and it will help thieves pick out which cars to steal.

get a stock hood and have a engine bay photo vinyled on there.

A plexiglass hood wont last. The amount it will cost you to have a custom one made becasue no one makes one, time and effort you will have to put into it to try to do it your self not to mention frustration.. It just won't last. plexiglass has a tendency to crack, turn foggy from heat etc..... Lexan might work. It is stronger then glass and plexiglass and also impact resistant. I have worked with lexan before doing custom lighting and audio for cars. Lexan is what you will need to do.

As for having one made what I would do is contact one of these people who make a fiberglass or carbon fiber hood for the rx7 and see if they would be willing to use the mold they have with lexan to make a hood for you. Who knows they might be able to sell one or two more off your idea.

Good luck and if you get one or make one I would love to see it.

You've been watching too much fast + furious.

Also, in a magazine article I read 2398472 years ago about that supra w the clear hood, they said that the hood would become pliable because of the heat. Now imagine what the extra heat of a rotary engine would do to it.

= FAIL

Get one of those colored clear hoods, APC mufflers (bonus points if they're crooked), spray paint your taillights, sidemarkers, headlights & mirrors black, and get some NAWS (2 of the big ones) They don't actually need to be connected to anything either, as soon as people see the bottles they'll be like 'ZOMG!'. Top it off with some aftermarket wheels meant for a Honda Civic and you're set.

Take a picture of your engine and have it airbrushed onto your hood. Or have a huge sticker of it made.

your engine had better be the mack daddy money to be sporting a clear hood!

someone had a aluminum hood that was polished up, interesting to say the least

Plexiglass hood, huh? So you want everybody to be able to see your wankel? Sounds ghey to me...

Unless of course it isn't a wankel. Maybe the OP is showing off a V-8 swap. Oh wait... that's still ghey, isn't it

i've thought of doing something similar to this before.
Lexan is the best bet.

the main problem is the heat, which is why they only make clear hoods for puny hybrids and stuff.
did you want it like permanent?
i've seen people make clear hoods and trunks for show cars, that way they don't have to worry about people touching the super expensive stuff but can't still see the work.

another thing, you can't have a super heat resistant hood because it can kind of trap the heat only making it worse.
anyways, yeah.
my thoughts are said.

This makes absolutely no sense.
What could be more "heat resistant" than the stock hood with the thermal blanket?
You make it sound like the hood acts as a heatsink, transferring engine bay heat to the outside via convection...which is clearly not the case.

most of you are too young to remember the baddest of the bad, Hemi Under Glass- would do the entire 1/4 mile in the air, and would also get all 4 wheels off the ground

Apparently they have never seen cars from the 50s when plexi hoods were the norm hotrod thing to do.
