Please help, part broke
Hi, this part broke off and i need to know what part it is, i would also like to know if this is something i can pick up at a mazda dealer or order from a mazda website. I know this has to do with power steering so all help is appreciated. Thanks.

That is the adjuster pulley for the power steering belt. You'd have to call a dealership and ask if they'd sell you just that and not an entire bracket, or worse an entire pump.
Try posting the in 2nd Gen Classifieds section. Power steering pumps are very common among used parts and someone might have a pulley for you. :) |
or try a wrecking yard...

thank you so much!
I just called the dealer and they are ordering it right now, it's only 25 bucks, not bad. now i gotta get the belt and im all set =) |

You get the part OFF by taking thet 17mm nut on the front of the pulley and loosening it all the way..It will come right off..
The 10 mm Long bolt at the back of that Pulley and assembly is to Tighten and loosen the belt once you have the belt on. It should be a fairly common idler pulley that you can buy at a Auto parts store. You do not need to Buy a whole Power steering assembly..Just that Idler adjustment pulley. If you can't find one at the Parts Store then go to Mazda, they will order one in..(or go to a Pick and pull/Wrecking yard).. Good Luck.STYX. |

From the scratches on the pulley, I'd guess he was trying to pry the belt off without loosening the adjuster.

For what it's worth, the idler pulley for the A/C compressor belt is exactly the same as the broken one for the P/S belt. You can swap them and leave the A/C belt off for now. That way you can drive the car until you get a replacement.

^ You can drive the car without the P/S belt too.
