pilot bearing trouble
removing my pilot bearing. the autozone puller did not fit into the bearing so i proceeded with multiple punches and chisels. after 2 days of messing with it i got the dremel out and sand through the bitch! its completely cut in half and its STILL stuck.
I think the question is; i beat up the eccentric shaft a little bit but not much. is this gonna cause any problems? any advice on what you guys have done in the past? |
If you scroll down to the fifth post in https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/pilot-tool-533854/ , there's an explanation and some pictures of a method that I use. You need a little bit of clearance behind the bearing for this method to work.
I'm not sure about the damaged eccentric shaft, but I doubt that a LITTLE damage would cause problems, assuming you sand the rough edges smooth. Lots of people on this site state that they use a dremmel tool to get the bearing out--I assume that they must have also cut into the shaft a bit using that method. Good luck with getting yours out. |
