what's "not a lot of money?"

if you want take-off ... i'd suggest an exhaust system and nice, light flywheel/clutch combo ... but they're not ... ahem ... CHEAP!!!

yeah, mine did too when i was putting in my CD player. All you needed to do was use a litle epoxy and some fiberglass and now it's as strong as ever.

Wouldn't a lighter flywheel slow your takeoff? My friend has an 87 sport and after he got a lighter flywheel he had to slip the clutch a lot more or it would bog.

No, a lighter flywheel speeds up launches because it has less mass therefore less inertia (the tendency for an object at rest to stay at rest and an object in motion to stay in motion).

the lighter flywheel isn't better for launches...you don't have enough enertia to throw the car off the lauch...if you dont spin a little off the line the car bogs like hell. top end is great though or midranging with someone

Lightweight flywheel less mass turning it, it is good for launches because its less weight you must be talking about launching at 2k because a good launch can not take place unless you drop around the peak torque curve of 45-5500 IT does has less torque off the line but you dont lose torque your car just bogs out easier when you start off, and on a hill..well you better know how to drive. Your rpms will rev quicker b/c of the flywheel also...I would get one if i wasnt getting a streetport they to have the symptoms of a lightweight flywheel.

the lighter flywheel will make you have to slip the clutch more, but i figured if he was asking for better take-off, then we're not talking about just getting away from a stop sign quicker ... we're talking about getting away from a given point quicker than someone else. in which case, you'll be slipping the clutch anyways, so the lighter flywheel will make him wind up the motor and accelerate quicker.

yeah a lighter flywheel will improve your acelleration, unless you drive like you still have a heavy flywheel. every time you modify your car, it will change its dynamics and you have to adapt your driving style accordingly if you want to make the most out of it.
