OverHeating problem.

Ok, the car seems to be overhearting once in a while. More often then not. The gauge goes way up. i can't see any leaks and it doesn't loose coolent (not often anyways) I found that one of the the rad caps was bad so i replaced it, but didn't help... i've also changed the stat... any other possiblities?

thanks.

Well its just a thought but it happend to a friend of mine. You do have a mixture of water and radiator fluid right? If you have just radiator fluid it will over heat like you are saying. Just a thought.

Arrow Check..

Check your mixture (50/50 distilled water/coolant) and check your clutch on your fan and do you have the stock fan shroud installed?

The engine driven cooling fan clutches go bad sometimes. 3 out of the 7 RX7's I have owned needed new fan clutches after 100k miles or sometimes less....

Hope that helps.

alright.. thanks guys...

i'll check those.

But I think I have more water then coolent in there, as this should be ok. The coolents is only for winter isn't it? so it acts as an anti-freeze?

I'm not 100% sure on this, but I've heard that 50/50 Anti-Freeze is a better coolant than water alone. I believe its boiling point is higher than water.

What is the condition of your rad? Are all the fins intact?

have you flushed the cooling system? is there debris on the radiator?

also, check the fan clutch like everyone else said. Oh, another possibility, is the radiator ducting there?
