oil injector lines melted?

ok, i have a 86 rxl gxl n/a
and now, ive been having problems with this car ever since i had it.. i have a really bad oil leak, so i thought it would be just a gasket or something, so i took it in to my automotives class and i traced the oil leak up to top of the housing... soo i look some more and i seen i think about 4 rubber lines coming from what i found out the metering oil pump... so my problem is that those rubber lines are still intact but theres these plastic pipes i think from what i can make out of it are melted... so im planning on removing the intake manifold this friday to see whats going down... where do i find these lines for cheap? coz here its $25 each canadian and im really hurting for money hahaha, or is there a way i can just make and install my own lines? thanks for the help guys

the OIl metering lines are expensive and known for hardening and cracking. I solved this problem by having them from SS braided High pressure Oil resistant hose. I just took my old lines down to a local Hydraulics place, and it cost me $12 a piece. They look good, and will last waaaayyy longer than the brittle stock mazda lines. You can get SS lines from retailers but it's the same thing.

Search for this thread: "Rebuilding the OMP oil injection lines" in this section of the forum. It's an excellent DIY that provides detailed instructions on what kind of tubing and clamps to get and how to install them.

Most hydraulic shops can rebuild the lines inexpensively. I just had mine done locally for $25.

sorry guys for bringing this back up again, anyways i finally got the chance to pull out the intake manifold and all that stuff to check, sure enough they are right melted. When i was in the process of cleaning, i noticed that there are is another thing on top of the injectors, when i look into my haynes manual, it shows like a 4 tubes connecting all oil injectors into one... my problem is what is that thing called? what would it do if i ran my car without it? and where does the other end connect to? please help, dont want to run my car without that thing, i need to know what its called so i can order it... thanks in advance

Are you referring to the piece where the omp lines run out of? Has 4 screws on it?

I have the OMP lines you need and the vacum lines. There are vacum lines that goes to the throttle body. If the oil lines are melted then more that likely the vacum hoses are too. I can get all this stuff for you for a reasonable price.

its like 4 tubes that connects into one... the 4 tubes connects to the top of each oil injector... is that what theyre called? OMP LINES? how much would it be shipped? are they in a really good condition?

mothership 03-18-06 12:15 AM

vacum spider maybe.? I don't know about shipping to canada though, probably $45 bucks. Let me know so i can get these things together.
