OEM fog light switch pin out?

OEM fog light switch pin out?

I've got an oem foglight switch with the little orange light in it. Its got 3 pins on it. Can somebody tell me what they correspond to? I've got some foglights that didn't come with a relay and I plan to add one and use the oem switch (it only handles 4A vs. the fog lights 15A switch), so I'd like to add a relay so the switch can handle just switching on the relay.

2 position illuminated rocker switch and it definately has 3 pins. Which is what confuses me, normal spst switches should only be 2, this is pinned for spdt but its only an spst switch.

The only thing that comes to my mind as to why there is even 3 pins, is a toggle switch i bought.
It went (+) (Acessory) (-).

I can't be positive thats how this one is set up.

some switchs have 3. it's for the light on it. but mine doesn't have a light and it's only 2 pins. so I don't think it's a stock rx7 switch. which is what my first post was saying.

the lighted switches have 3. I forgot the order. I think one would be ground from relay. then one to ground. and one from acc to light it up.

I'm guesing it would be a dpst switch so both the relay and light ground when it's closed. (so the swtich lights up when the fogs are on)

................../ 0--internal light--- acc
ground----0
..................\ 0--- relay

you would have to find out which pin the internal light was on. cause if backwards you would just ground the acc which isn't good


unless the light is surposed to come come on when the fogs are off?

that would be spdt. with ground in the middle I guess

on second though just throw it out. 2 pin on / off switchs are so much better

okay.....i have my own thread with still leaves me baffled.......can any of you tell me.....in detail.......which prongs of a relay i should hook to what??

i have stock 89-92 fog lights and a stock two wire switch nothing in between, any help??

you need a 4 or 5 prong standard 12v auto relay.


pin 30 straight to battery (with fuse). pin 87 to fog +. pin 85 to switched 12v (acc). pin 86 to one pin on switch. other pin of switch to ground.

also ground fog lights.

if you don't use a relay you will fry the switch. also this way when you turn off the car. the fog lights will go off by themselfs instead of staying on (no killing battery now)

Depends on the wattage of the lights. If they're 55W each like stock, they'll draw (2x55)/12 = 9.2A, so a 15A fuse would be good.
