OBD port...
Where's the OBD port for the check engine light?
|
There is a test connector in the engine that you ground and then turn to the key to ON. The light flashes the number of times to indicate what codes are stored in memory. I need to find the link to where that connector is...

Yeah... what i really need to find is where that is.
Whoops... same time for post yeah, that's where i thought it was, pulled up a 12, looks like i need a new throttle sensor. would that cause my car to run like complete shit? |
It could be a cause for hesitation, poor gasoline mileage, power issues. If it runs really, really bad I would be looking elsewhere though for broken, cracked vacuum hoses, dirty air filers and so on.
|
ok... well after thinking about it, i realized that the previous owner probably had that code for a bit, washed away the oil in the rotor housings, and probably somewhere along there it lost compression in rotor 1... i just hope the rotor housings are in good shape.

We don't need no stinkin' OBD crap! :) NO RX-7 came with OBD or OBDII - Mazda dropped the production rather than require having that crap installed. -Ted |
I thought we did get OBDI, but the thirg gen got canned because (among other things) wasn't OBDII compliant.

No, not even the FD has OBDI. Mazda dropped U.S. production cause one of the reasons was all 1996+ vehicles in the U.S. were required to have OBDII. -Ted |
Question? OBD is on board diagnostic, right? Is OBD a standard? Just curious because the FC does have a on board diagnostic port that will show you error codes.
|
Yes, "OBD" is a (U.S.) standard.
Any OBD "scanner" can plug into an OBD port and scan the data. Yes, the FC has some built-in error code save and display capabilities built into the stock ECU, but this has nothing to do with "OBD". -Ted |
Well that link clears everything up, it's all there.
