What temp should my Turbo II be running at? What are the safe levels and what is the danger zone?

Oh yeah, I'm not talking about the stock gauge, I have a greddy temp. So what temp in degrees?

Hmm there was a thread on this not too long ago, my gauge stays at about 190* during city and 180* durring highway. I think the rebuild zone is about 230* and at about 210 you should pull over.

Search for it as my memory be alittle off.

Well on my Turbo II I had the stock gauge working perfectly normal. Along with the stock gauge I had a Auto Meter Water Temp Gauge. With a small leak in the radiator I noticed that when the stock water temp gauge got up to exactly half way, the Auto Meter Water Temp gauge would read exactly between 200, and 210 degrees if I remember correctly. Its been awhile since ive been in the Turbo II, its sleeping at the moment waiting for a rebuild. Also its funny if you read the owners manual that comes with the car it will show you exactly the range where Mazda "specificly' tells you that these are normal running temps for the T-II which in my opinion the damn car is already running extremly hot, and your lucky if there is no engine damage. With my Turbo II I overheated the car once, and then I ran into another situation where it overheated again, however the motor already had 200,000 plus hard driven miles, and it was over due for a rebuild, it was already running low on compression. The car would start every now, and then by itself it, each day the car was getting harder to start on its own. It was already time for a fresh rebuild. If you go to the Racing Beat website they will also tell you that anything over 210 or 220 degress is already overheating. I strongly recommend you get a after market water temp gauge, but get anything besides Auto Meter. "I know I have a Auto Meter, but they are not the greatest gauges get a Greddy,HKS,DELFI, or APEXI they are much better quality, also while your at it get a good radiator like a Fluidyne or a Koyo, and keep the Stock Shroud, and Fan, also stay away from the "Red Line Water Seal Eater".

Just a question, does a Fluidyne really help that much more then a stock rad? Just wondering cuz i've got an 800 mile drive ahead of me with my T2 and i need to know if that would help considerably

I didn't know the probablility would be so high as get the exact question asked on the same day, let alone an easy one that Is readily answered using the search function. :confused:

I would have to disagree with statements like that. They are doomsday statements that usually do not hold true.

My FMIC'd car, and many other FC's and FD's see temps of up to 230F during hot lapping in the summer. I'm Still on the same engine after 3 years.

Should a street-driving car, even with big turbo and FMIC see temperatures like that, hell no. In fact, on the street, my temps almost never break 200.

You have to take into consideration more than just coolant temp. Its the micro boiling of the EGW causing hotspots that is probably more dangerous.

In fact, people running Evans NPG+ coolant, usually see higher overall temps that EGW users, but its still considered a better coolant.

Yeah mine runs about 90 c around the city. It gets to about 85 on the highway and when I play a little its get just under 100.

90 c is about 194 f.

I just wanted to make sure the temps I'm running are safe. Are they??????

I have a aftermarket radiator and huge front mount.

My car runs 170-180 normal, 195 absolute peak.
