no spark!

did the coil resistance check...eveything is okay 0.6 ohms....both coils.....tested crank angle sensor...its fine...ecu?!?!?!?

WAYNE88N/A 04-21-04 08:23 PM

here we go again (lol)- are you flooded? verified no juice in the spark plug leads with an inductive timing light?

SirCygnus 04-21-04 08:41 PM

hey buddy, unplug the afm from the car. if it still doesnt start, then your fine. but i would check the afm aswell.

same ordeal. fuel, but no spark at all. the i simply unplugged it, and forgot to plug it in, and it started, idoled, then died. man i was happy as shit.

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-21-04 09:28 PM

lol i unflooded like actually took off the spark plugs and crank to unflood and still no sparks on the spark plugs. tried the afm method from a different car, my buddy with his FC showed up so i borrow his AFM to test and still no sparks

WAYNE88N/A 04-21-04 09:34 PM

are the plugs wet? smell any fuel?

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-21-04 09:50 PM

yes that why i said i pulled them off to clean them, and unflood the motor, im not gettin spark period i did the spark test.. and like i said i tested the CAS, coil packs, and i have about 4 different fully charge batteries. that i tried to start the car with and still no sparks

WAYNE88N/A 04-21-04 09:59 PM

check the 40 amp (EGI INJ) fuse in the engine bay fuse box, and the 15 amp engine fuse in the cabin fuse box

You need to go to your LEAD coil assy and pull the small, two wire plug off and check for 12v on the black/yellow wire. Forget the other wire, just the black/yellow wire. NO volts? You should have already checked the 40 amp fuse mentioned in the above post and the engine fuse....so go to your Main Relay anc check for 12v on the black/green wire.

IF you had 12v on the black/yellow wire when you checked earlier......then you should have spark and fuel both. Since you say you don't, go to the boost sensor and pull the plug off and check for 5volts on the brown/red wire. No volts? Check for power at the ECU on the samll plug. Pin 3I

check the ground on the block and intake. I had this problem and the ground had come loose and had no conection. works fine now, except the newly blown water seal :(

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 10:45 AM

yes im gettin 12.4v up to the coil packs, 40amp fuse is fine hmm lemme see about pressure sensor not sure i'll check that and ground between block and intake? i never saw one.

HAILERS 04-22-04 11:21 AM

When you crank the engine, if you STARE at the tach, does the needle move the slightest bit? If it does, then you have spark and don't know it.

Note: The LEAD plugs both at the same time have to access to a ground. IF you pull both lead plugs off and just hold one near ground....that is not sufficient. Both have to be near a ground source.

If you truly don't believe you have spark..try this...hold one of the lead plug wires at the point where it touches the sparkplug. Put your other hand on the chassis. Have someone turn the engine over. IF you did not feel a tingle...then I guess you don't have spark.

The idea behind checking the brown/red wire on the pressure sensor is to determine if the ECU has the ability to make spark. To see if its 5v reference voltage device is working or not. No 5v there........no sparky.

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 12:20 PM

the needle doesnt move. imma check the pressure sensor junk

That's shocked the piss out of me before...not literally, but it was a good jolt.

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 01:20 PM

lol i wonder what could be wrong, my last guess is ecu but how could such of thing go bad just like that.

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 03:14 PM

ok im gonna check the brown/red wire what if i dont get 5v then what could be wrong?

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 05:56 PM

ok i left some stupid plug out underneath the dash by the ecu. fixed the no spark problem but ran into another, she started jump to 3k rpm and die.. any clue why?

WAYNE88N/A 04-22-04 06:05 PM

ha ha, you're just a comedy of errors j/k...check the AFM plug first, and all the other plugs you've touched in the last week, since you seem to have a propensity for forgetting to hook 'em up! :)

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-22-04 06:18 PM

yea it was the afm unplug but now she wont start might be bad afm not sure.

just looking for an update to this as now im having the same problem

no spark for sure ... havent checked anything yet (t was too late last night), but plan on checking all this tonight ... (search function very handy!!) ...
any updates on your idling problem ... cause i dont i'll be lucky enough to just have a no spark problem .. once i fix this i know its gonna be something else :D

FC3S-NovaStyle 04-27-04 10:18 PM

i got spark she could idle at about 750 to 800 now.. but will die if i take her for a 5min drive and let go the throttle or just let her sit at idle for like 10min
