The offset is 24mm. 17x8

Psygnosis7:
Hehe, thanks. Yea thats exactly what it will look like, only gloss metallic, to sort of match the silver metallic finish of the wheels. I want it to look as factory as possible.

jon88se 03-25-04 02:36 PM

don't paint any part of the center cap black, it will look awful on the car!! grind down the mustang and paint it silver to match...it will look 100% better.

yea, Im not dead set on the black yet, may do one with something not permanent, and see how it looks. I just know I cant get the exact same color silver to match, and it would look even more stupid with mis-matched silvers.

Personally iam against putting american parts on my Japanese car. Exspecially mustang wheels. Wheels are a very important part of how a car looks. Plus i think a rear drive car needs a wheel with a little lip. Wheels with out lips look like tacky tire rack alloy and make the car look cheap.

here is a pic of my car with my new wheels. the lip just makes the car look that much more aggresive

Its cool you dont like them, but I do, so I dont care ;)

n4ji 03-25-04 08:31 PM

I like the stang rims! Now all you need is a hood and you'll be ready to go! :D

rowtareh? 03-25-04 09:05 PM

Fucks yeah. That shit looks sweet. I will think of using 'Stang GT rims. What tires are you running? I have ghetto setup. I have Yokohoma's up front(really nice, tons of tread), and goodyears in the back(no tread left). I never noticed it until today when I was pumping the tires up.

Thanks in advance.

Rxmfn7 03-25-04 09:24 PM

Im running Kuhmo Escta Supra 712s. Not the greatest tire in the world, but its pretty decent, and the price is phenominal. 255/40ZR17 rear and 235/40ZR17 front. Got all 4 for about $430 shipped from tirerack.com.

drago86 03-25-04 09:25 PM

Did you weigh them perchance before you put them on?

88intergraLS i KNOW for a fact you weighed the 300zx wheels :-) what they weigh and can you post some pics uo of how they look on the car?

Rxmfn7 03-25-04 09:28 PM

I weighed the wheels alone, they were a hair under 17 lbs each. I did not weigh them with tires.

jon88se 03-25-04 09:43 PM

I'm sure you can find a silver spray paint to match - I honestly like them without center caps

drft_180sx 03-25-04 10:08 PM

PLEeeeease Post pics of the 300zx rims

I also want to get some hub rings as well. I need to find the measurement for the mustang wheels center-bore, then I can call around and see if I can get a set made.
The rings you'll need to get are to adapt 59.6mm hubs to 70.1mm wheels the measurments on the rings will say something like 59.7 and 70.0mm. You should be able to go to a local tire shop that sells aftermarket rims and order a set. I just picked some up today from a local shop.

The offset is 24mm. 17x8
That's wrong! All of the 17x8 5 lug mustang rims are 30-32mm. My GT rims say 30mm right on the rim.

Personally iam against putting american parts on my Japanese car.
That's great if you have lots of cash. But I'm on a budget, so I have Mustang rims and ARP wheel studs designed for Corvettes/Camaros/Frebirds!

I'll see about posting some pics of them on my car once my tires arrive in mid April and I put the wheels on.

Josh18_2k 03-27-04 09:34 AM

how much room is there between the springs and the tire (up front)? do you you have coilovers or stock sized springs? you think 245's would fit the front?

Im running Tokico springs/struts up front, they are about the same diameter as stock. WIth the 235/40s, The clearance is very tight. I can barely squeeze my fingertip between the spring and the tire. I do not think a 245 would fit without coilovers. ANd even then, it may be rubbing the outside, on the fender. I think a 235/40 is the perfect size up front, maybe even 225 for a little more clearance if your car is lower than mine.

Black91n/a: are you sure about the offset? Ive always heard that they were 24mm...and I even asked on the mustang forums, and they all told me it was 24.. I sent you a PM also. :)

Josh18_2k 03-27-04 09:45 AM

thats funny- i have tokicos too (shock and spring)
sounds like if you can fit a fingertip you can fit another 5mm per side... have you tried sticking the 255's in front? for curiosity sake.
btw, i'm not too worried about the fender rubbing. these tokicos are damn stiff!

Rxmfn7 03-27-04 09:50 AM

245s *might* fit...but I wouldnt want to spend the money on tires to find out they rub.. would you ;) Even so theyd be too close for my liking. No I never tried the 255s up front.

stupify 03-29-04 10:18 PM

245's do fit up front but they will scrape on the bumper if the car is lowered at all. They do stick out a little also. Can't tell really from a distance but up close you can tell. I had rubbing problems just driving down the road with 245/45/17 on my wheels before I sold. If your going to/lowered your car do not get 245's you will not be happy at all. You can't drive the car down the road without it scraping on little bumps. And it takes all the fun out of corning also.

theman4444 03-29-04 10:48 PM

I'd need to see them on the car like that if you can do that in photoshop too. heh

Sir Rupert Hobo your rims are nice! Did they come smokey like that or did you paint them? I especially like them without the center caps.

Sir Rupert Hobo 03-29-04 11:38 PM

thanks, stupify actually painted them, so props to him!

one thing though. i guess they put the weights on the OUTSIDE of the rim from the factory, which is WRONG. they are suppose to be on the inside. so i had them put on the other side and their was paint missing from where the weights were at(you can make it out in my sig). so, i touched it up.

i'll have better pics though in a week(if i find the damn time). the wheels look better and the car sits low.:)

mathetas 03-30-04 06:54 AM

My two cents... That's one of the nicest Silver GXL's I've ever seen... Tough car, man - I'm jealous. I didn't even know that a GXL came in silver. Sharp wheels, etc... Kings to you.

MazdaRx7Racer4Life 03-30-04 08:15 AM

you should get one of those elevated cowl hoods the stangs wear, then you'll be an rx7 with mustang syndrome.

MazdaRx7Racer4Life 03-30-04 08:19 AM

......but on a more serious note, 17x8 is awesome, if your planning on tacking that to the track i bet you'll get really good handling. Jyst because mustangs don't handle well with tyhose wheels doesn't mean its the wheels, its the stang. Our cars will get anywheel and squeeze the maximum performance out of it (handling wise atleast) Kudos man.
