new lsd diff

Hello,

I am getting a turboII lsd diff. I need to know if they made a lsd diff for non turbo cars, if so how can I tell if the rear end that I am getting is a turboII rear end. I have to have a turboII rear end for my rx7. So I need to know. It does have the i.d. tag saying lsd on it but I don`t know if it says anything about being a turboII rear end. Also is a turboII drive shaft shorter or longer than a non turbo car? Also is the drive axles shorter or longer then a non turbo car? Does anybody have turboII drive axle measurements?

The FAQ for FC sticky thread (https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/frequently-asked-questions-2nd-generation-rx-7-faq-fc-494667/) found at the top of this section and the new member technical section covers this question. Many of the commonly asked questions are covered there.

If you had read the FAQ for FC sticky thread before posting, you would have found:

Only the following USA model 2nd gen RX-7s had a LSD from the factory:
86-88 GXL
87-91 Turbo
88 GTU
89-90 GTUs (however not the 89-90 GTU)

It is also rumored that a few rare 91 coupes with both the A (upgraded the interior trim, added a power sunroof, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, and 4 piston front disc brakes and vented single piston rear brakes) and the B package (leather seating, a CD player, and rear cargo cover) came with a LSD, but you should note that Mazda denies that any FC other than the T2 came with a LSD in 91).

You can also tell by looking at the differential as there will be a LSD tag on S4 cars with a LSD.

Non US models with LSD info to come
The Turbo drive shaft is shorter than a both the automatic and manual transmission drive shafts for the non turbo models. In addition the mounting flange at the Turbo differential assembly is larger, as well as the Turbo differential itself is a 8 inch differential, where as the non turbos use a 7 inch differential.

The half shafts are the same size length, but the Turbo half shafts themselves are stronger and larger than the non turbo ones, and are not interchangeable.
