ok, in regarsd to the previous thread i posted: my bad for ANY offence that was taken. had a hard day and was tired of the google cuz i am rather impatient.... srry ya'll

ok now on to business.....

i have an all original 86 fuel injected 13B in my all original (trashed, bought it that way....) 86 rx7. been having starting trouble & found 2 LAST remaining posibilities for this. warped rotar (AAAAHHHHHHRRRRRG!!!) OR apex seal are shot.... hear me out on this one... it "push/roll" starts and it tries to start when i turn the key over. it just needs that extra "push". non-the-less, i have a ruff compression loss issue. wondering if any body out there has had/seen/heard of this b4. any and all help would be greatly appreciated, especially links to parts. i refer back to my previous statement regarding my lack of patience.... also looking for any weit reduction do it your self tips and fararri style head lights. thnx ya'll take it easy

Warped Rotors? WTF? I don't think you understand how this works, exactly ;) We're not talking a brake-rotor style thing spinning around inside your engine. got to Rotaryengineillustrated.com and watch some animations, and check out detailed pics ;) I can garuntee that your Rotor is not warped :)

Now, Onto buisness.

I haven't seen your original thread, so I'm going to throw out all possiblities, starting with the cheapest.
This sounds it may have a simple solution, so don't go jumping to conclusions that your engine is shot, or you'll sound like a Mazda Service Tech. This is all with the assumption that you just aquired the car, and/or its been neglected for a while.

the FIRST thing I would do is change your spark plugs and wires. I'll lay money that if its this beat, they haven't been changed in a long time, and Rotaries tend to eat spark plugs a bit faster than a piston engine.

2nd thing to do is a full tuneup. I'm talking all of the hoses, belts, fluids (don't forget transmission and differential), and ESPECIALLY vacuum lines. There's lots of them, and after 20 years, they start to get a bit brittle and crack, making your idle bad and your startups harder. The rest of the tuneup (such as new coolant hoses) won't affect your startup problems, but it will make your life easier, knowing that your car is performing to the best of its ability.

3rd, is it cranking fast enough? A weak battery will give a slow cranking speed, which is difficult for any engine, piston or rotary, to deal with. If the battery is good, now is a time to start checking out all of the major grounds, to be proactive against any grounding problems.

4th, Is the timing set properly? It may be off a bit, or mis-adjusted by the previous owner? get a timing light and make sure its set dead on the marks.

5th, do a compression check. This is pretty much THE ONLY good way for a novice to learn what condition their engine internals are in.

Start working through that, especially the 1st step, and see how you make out.

Good luck :)

OMFG, THANK YOU!!!!! ur right about the previous owner "SLIGHTLY" neglecting the poor thing, but i have changed spark plugs, fuel & air filters as a rough starting point just to make sure that it is road worthy enuff to get home.

!!!XXX!!!FAILED TO MENTION: my engine WILL start by way of ignition key after it has been running for a few and is warm but when it has been setting for a while (an hour or so) and the engine is cooled off again, i have the same proble as afore mentioned. also any and all weight reduction tips would b greatly appreciated. thnx ya'll
