need a na header that bolts to stock cats

i need a header that will bolt to a full race pipe that bolts to the stock mannifold... im tryin to save some cash by peicing an exhaust together haha, unless anyone can cut me a deal on a full set up? i havnt purchased the race pipe yet, so other exhuast suggestions are going to be greatly appriciated

nillahcaz 01-05-10 06:50 PM

RB header and pipe will bolt up to a cat back.

drake87 01-05-10 06:57 PM

im already looking at a rb cat back that would be great but its a lil to far outside my price range, im looking to spend around 400 to 5 hundered on a full se up, or at least replece my f*cked up mannifold and mid section, unless just doing a header and cat back would give me more power??

2slow4stock 01-05-10 07:39 PM

You know there are kits that bolt up to the stock y-pipe.

jjcobm 01-05-10 07:52 PM

Corksport?

drake87 01-05-10 08:12 PM

would running stock mufflers make a big difference if i got headers and mid section?

misterstyx69 01-05-10 08:17 PM

Stock mufflers and a header are going to make the car sound like a BEE...seriously..mine was very annoying!

drake87 01-05-10 08:25 PM

haha mine does sund like a bee now because of my exhaust leak at my mannifold! but would it still sound bad if the ONLY stock part on the exhaust was the mufflers? and how would my power be??

LargeOrangeFont 01-05-10 08:28 PM

An OBX header will bolt to the OEM main cat.

drake87 01-05-10 08:34 PM

is the main cat the one right after the mannifold? because that is what i need it to fit to if i buy the race pipe, its a direct replacement for the whole mid section (between the stock y pipe and stock mannifold)

Bwek 01-05-10 09:15 PM

if you were closer i have an Rb header sitting here actually.. I have 2 one is a bolt up with a cat

No one wants them in canada lol I can't get rid of them For $100 its messed lol oh and one is header wrapped too lol

haha no way! no shipping or what?? its a biiatch to find any parts here in new mexico

VAbeachFC 01-06-10 03:55 PM

screw the cats run a full setup thats what i have now for past 2 years. u gotta do something for the 5th and 6th ports but i forgot how it was done bc they need to open

Bwek 01-06-10 04:57 PM

It would be too expensive to ship it would def be an oversized box

drake87 01-06-10 05:08 PM

dang haha, but yeah you have to keep that little pipe that runs bach to the motor for 5/6 port, thats why im curious about just running a header and a cat back

Main cat is the 3rd one.

drake87 01-07-10 04:14 PM

what about running header and muffler vs stock mannifold, race pipe and muffler?

Gringo Grande 01-07-10 05:09 PM

Do you have emissions in New Mexico? I removed all cats and I'm running header to muffler to stock Y to dual mufflers. I'm not going to lie, it is kinda loud! =)

drake87 01-07-10 06:44 PM

no emmissions where im at:) haha, the only reason im conidering keeping the stock mid section is because i have an s4, and i need the 5/6 port back pressure delivery pipe thingy to still be there so my ports open, haha

JReed 01-07-10 09:55 PM

i have a bonez 2.5 hi flow cat that i dont need only has like 500 miles on it pm me if it helps :/

TheAbsence 01-08-10 12:12 AM

Racing Beat headers do NOT bolt to the stock cats. The Corksport headers delete the exhaust manifold and precat, but bolt to the stock cats.

from RB
"Our Streetable Header/Collector is designed for a bolt-on installation, when used with the appropriate Power Pulse Presilencer, in all 1986-92 non-turbo RX-7s. The combination of this Header/Collector and the appropriate presilencer replaces the stock exhaust manifold and all catalytic converters, along with any intermediate pieces of tubing. (In this application, the presilencer will bolt-up to the factory Y-pipe.)"

and the pre-silencers have a pick up tube for aux ports.
so, TheAbsence, you are right the RB will not bolt up to any of the stock cats, But i fail to see the problem with that for what he is looking to do.

TheAbsence 01-08-10 01:38 AM

^ Yeah you're absolutely right, depending on what "stock manifold" hes talking about.

rotarygod 01-08-10 10:13 AM

The Racing Beat header will not directly bolt up to the stock main cat although you could fab up an adapter that would allow it to. With their presilencer it removes the cat and bolts up to the factory Y-pipe. There are only 2 headers on the market that will bolt directly up to the factory main cat. They remove the pre-cat(s) of course. Those headers are the Pacesetter and the OBX. The OBX header is an identical design to the Pacesetter except that it is made out of stainless steel instead of mild steel. If you don't need a cat anymore, take your pick as nearly anything can work.

clokker 01-08-10 10:27 AM

I thought the Corksport bolted to the stock cat also...
