need help immediatly (what have i done!?!?)
i was cruising at about 140 and whenm i came to a stop the car dies. so i leave it overnight and comeback in the morning and the car starts up. i get it to my house and shut it off. now the car won't start and when i crank it it smokes. i got it to start by push starting it amd it smoked so much when it started and then stopped and it ran ok but if i would stop it would die and when i would shift gears it would backfire like crazy. now its flooding like mad please HELP ME!!!!
is this after you ran the 12 psi?
Leaky injectors?
LOLOLOL.....maybe you have rod knock(broken piston rods) ;)
what color is the smoke? white indicates burning coolant, which means you probably blew your coolant seals, Oil burns blue and gas burns black, simple way to test to see if you coolant seals blew, pop off radiator cap, turn engine over, if you have a nice little fountain thing going on, your gonna need a rebuild :)
start off by checking compression
Or I would think something is flooding it when engine is off (might be coolant leak) |
Wow, that sounds bad. white smoke is no thanks.
do you think that a 2.5 inch race pipe to an apex'i GT catback would make it run ten pounds
or more????
also its an 87 turbo
god i'm an idiot i'm sure all of you could have figured its a turbo
have you ported the wastegate? with that exhaust setup on a stock wastegated S4 T2, you will probably be creeping to 13 psi or more. i was creeping to 13 psi with a 3" RB turboback with my stock S5 wastegate, and the s5 wastegates flow much better than S4s.
you said "cruising at 140" Is this MPH or KPH? What color is the smoke?
mph, blue and black
i wasn't like driving at 140 mph either, i accelerated to that high and then came down to a stop.
cruising was just a word i used i accelerated to 140 and then coasted down to a stop. under a minute of hard driving. tried the radiator cap test. no coolant came out, which i hope means no bad coolant seals. had my plug hooked up wrong, so i fixed that and now when i crank it, it sounds like it wants to turn over but can't smells really flooded. tried egi fuse fix, no luck but very close. what else should i do, besides compression test? also what should i look for when i do compression test, 3 pulses over what is it 85 psi???

stupid server
sorry guys |
Try doing the severe unflooding procedure.First you remove the lower spark plugs or both. Then squirt in some oil or atf into the chambers. Then turn the engine over by hand.Remove the egi fuse and disconnect the cas.Turn it it over for like 20 seconds, then put everything back together and try to start.Should start,if it was just badly flooded.
Good luck Danny |
bust a compression test once you crank it once good time.
what should i look for in psi on a test? isn't over 85 you ok, does it matter what spark plug hole i put the tester in?
Use the leading plug hole the bottom one.Anything above 85 is good.
remove egi, pull lower spark plugs, put an old shirt or something over both the holes and crank for a long time until everything thats liquid in the chambers is out. remove all the plugs and clean them with a wire brush and lighter. put a couple squirts of motor oil in the bottom two plug holes then put all plugs back in and start. it should start right up. and it will smoke for about 5-10 minutes depending on how much oil you put in. this is what worked on my 87 tii after it sat unused for 5 winter months. this is assuming you didnt blow your engine. if you blew an apex seal from too much boost your engine will sound like a lawnmower and have no power.
don't crank your engine over for very long crank it over for about 5 sec, left the starter motor kool down for a min or 2, then crank it over again.. if nothing is coming out clean your plugs and put them back in.. if something is still coming out then keep repeating step and 2 till nothing does..
never crank an engine over for too long you can (not saying you will ) but you can burn out your starter just my 2 cents.. then change your oil as a really bad flood will get gas into your oil cauing is to thin |
cool thanks guys. if it starts again what am i going to need to run safely at 12 pounds and where would you guys recomend getting it from.
