Need help. ID these wires.

These are on the S4 TII harness.

These are located between the AFM segment and the plug rack.

I'm guessing they would go around the alternator area if on the engine.

Here's another. Located at the injector plugs.

It would help if the pics had more light and weren't so damn fuzzy... :)

TonyTurboII 02-13-04 01:27 AM

a 1 wire connection could be a few things, but im going for o2 sensor. The others should be around it. Probably acv, bac....

Digi7ech 02-13-04 01:50 AM

Well.
A goes no where/ Just 2 dead wires.

After thought. I'm almost guessing the temp sensor behind the water pump. I can't remember if that is connected to the EFI harness or the other one though.

After Mapping out my NA harness I figred out the White plug(B) is the ACV one.

D could be the O2 snesor. I'll have to check my hanresses again.

TonyTurboII 02-13-04 02:02 AM

Now that I look at your second picture, i recall something. The two wires look like they should be in a plug similar to the white one a little behind it on the harness. I believe these two run under the hump of the UIM, and one goes to the cylindrical thing on the top of the UIM, and the other plug goes to something near the rear of the UIM between it and the firewall. Theyre usually the last two things you unhook before the UIM becomes completely free from the engine.

Digi7ech 02-13-04 12:40 PM

Wait. maybe that one in the botom/injector pic is the O2 sensor? I don;t think the O2 is 2 wires though. Is it?

J-Rat 02-13-04 02:02 PM

A: Possible BAC
B and C: ACV
D: Aux Fan

Well I'm pretty sure it's not the BAC.
If you look in the background I believe that square grey plug is the BAC. That is closer to the injector plugs.

I included a crappy pic to show the placement of the above pictures inline of the harness.

https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...postid=2659582

A is where the ABCD pic is and B is where the 2 wires are.

Rotary Racer 02-13-04 02:39 PM

- A; not sure, the picture crops out the connectors on the end take a pic of the connectors it would help a lot.

- B&C; ACV connectors (there are two connections on the ACV each connection has two wires)

- D; O2 sensor even though that connector on the end is not a factory Mazda connector.

- 2 wires off the injector harness: water temp on back of the water pump housing. Again looks to be an "altered" blue connector not factory Mazda.

If all else fails you should "tone out" each wire with the FSM’s ECU pin out detail and figure it out. Do you need the PDF of the FSM's engine management section? Let me know I can e-mail it to you.

Digi7ech 02-13-04 02:57 PM

A= Terminates to 2 dead wires. No connector on them at all.

Are you sure about the Pump and O2 sensor?

I swear that the O2 sensor plug on my NA went under the Intake manifold

As for the water sensor. I thought the plug went from the harness to the sensor and was a direct shoot off.

Why would it be place at the injectors and have to cross over itself?

I have a full FSM for a S4 but I couldn;t find pics of a full harness. Only the pin pic and broken pieces of emissions parts.

Rotary Racer 02-13-04 04:31 PM

You don't need a whole engine harness break out drawing you just need a couple of things.

- Multi meter
- FSM
- Paper and pen (write down your notes)
- Tape (to label the wire once you have figured it out)

Lets take that O2 wire for example. Take you multi meter set it to a continuity check (when this is selected when you touch the two terminals together you should hear a tone).

Take one terminal and plug it into pin # 2D, take the other terminal and touch the wire we think is the O2 wire if you get a sound your golden. :)

Time consuming but easy.

Damn you. Your making me work.

Fine Now I gotta find my multimeter and get it done once I get home.

I guess I can just figure it out from the pin outs at the ecu.

I should take another pic of the harnes. I'v redone the ECU to firewall section so it's nice and neat.

I also relocated the knock sensor so I can easily mount it next to the ECU and FCD.

TonyTurboII 02-14-04 03:02 AM

Pop out a haynes manual and start checking wire colors.

Digi7ech 02-17-04 08:34 PM

OK I'm Back. I did tone out the plugs and half went no where. The others were grounds goin to plug 3a I think.

Now Color group A in the first pic. I took the wrapping off around that.

It is 3 wires.
1 is the O2 wire with the metal ground cable.
another is a Ground.
I have no Idea what the other is.

Once I get home I can give the color codes of the wires.
I don't have a Haynes so if someone with on could check them up for me it would be awesome.

Digi7ech 02-23-04 08:16 PM

OK, SO I can remember. Me and J-rat compared the plugs and group A was the O2 sensor and the BAC plug.

B and C were for the ACV.

D----......mmmm Aux fan i think we guessed.

The 2 wires in the second pic are the Water sensor plug that goes to the back of the water pump housing.

Now I just have to get some 10 ohm/10watt resistors and place them inline and find the Voltage pin on the ECU so I can get everything ready to install.
