Thanks for putting your input in boost about the WG mod. I'm sure someone will be interested. Just ignore negative comments, much easier and effective than fighting them. I think the teg lights look pretty good. Now if you would have put some altezzas on I don't think I could defend you, lol.

Oh and, 5 years? You were registered in 2002.

Does anyone have a connection on getting the Honda 4-wire 02 sensors? I run a standalone microtech and don't really use the 02 sensor anymore (except to get a fairly inaccurate narrow band reading. I've read about the kits for a wideband quage/set up that require the honda 02 sensor, but the sensor alone was almost $200 when I last checked.

Those lights look $@(*& weird on a 7.

originalsterm 08-07-02 03:17 PM

you are an awful person for trying to do something to YOUR car. how can you disgrace YOUR car with something that other people don't like. you should really try to appease everyone else with YOUR car and do what they do. please, do not be unique.
(slight bit of sarcasm)

that look with the tail lights isn't my favorite, but nice work anyways. as for the waste gate, way to use your noodle and come up with a solution to a problem. it surprises me to see people yelling to do a SEARCH, this is not new, if that were the case, there really shouldn't be anything posted on this board, it should just be archives. this problem has been discussed, but your solution has not (i don't think).

now this is the time where people will probably tell me that they hate my input.

rx-7s rock 08-07-02 04:59 PM

Ok, the front looks alright. The back of the car is ASS!!! You hear me? ASS. It is your car tho so do what you will. Just sharing my opinion. And good god that green is horrible. I would take my car over that monster any day! Cuz mine has badly fading red paint and dents galore. Oh and can't forget the little rust spots. Or the phone dial rims.

zyounker 08-07-02 05:12 PM

Um, front kinda reminds me of an IROC.. i don't care for it, but you are doing alot more work then 99% of the people put into there cars on here.

Good idea on the WG flapper, it has been done before, but i don't think it is commonly thought of here..

as quoted from another forum:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
It would seem that the Import “scene” is becoming a real “500lb gorilla” to those that have been in the performance and racing industries.

One could equate it to the civil rights movement (although clearly, its not nearly as important of a social change).

People hate change.

I see a lot of posts on this forum daily.
I will read most, respond where I can, and when I have time.

However, more and more, I see posts more centered on modifications that are in my opinion, ridiculous.

While there are those that will post replies flaming the guy that wants “hiper-blinkers” or Altezza taillights, I have heard a million replies by those out there that say, “it’s their car, and so they can do with it what they like.”

And they are COMPLETELY right.

All I can say to that is, that I agree... BUT...

Don’t some people know that just because you CAN do a thing, doesn’t mean you SHOULD do that thing?!

My father called it “Birthday Fever” (Hopefully you get my point)

I mean, what about buying an RX-7 and putting Honda tailings on it?
Why?!

All to often I see cars driving around and I can tell IMMIDIATELY by the look of it, that wether or not they knew it, the owner wanted ANOTHER car but could only afford the poor “bastard-of-a-bolt-bucket” that he/she is driving now.

It’s been modified to an ungodly state, and possibly even gone so far as to have been made to look like the car the owner REALLY wanted in the first place.

Ultimately, looks like 5 pounds of ****, in a 4-pound bag.

This is just one of the components that make up the look called “RICE”.

There’s that word… Rice.

Folks, Rice is not just driving/owning/modifying/rebuild/repairing an import.
Why do I get called a Rice-Boy just for driving an import car?

Me? Rice?
Who said that?!!

Certainly they weren’t talking about ME!

How can people who want to drive nice, strong, (import) cars, with true performance goals, avoid being lumped in with those that “RICE” their cars?

I have been DYING to quantify this term so that I can be held EXEMPT from it!

Well, it started with various racing modifications and show car “visual effects” that were produced for use in these arenas SPECIFICALLY.

Then, some people went about displaying these ”looks” on the street.
After all, the show car mods, lights, etc., looked cool and attracted attention in the tradeshow.

When it all started, these mods, were universally expensive and were produced & installed by very skilled people.
Some could easily be called artists, and this work would always cost lots of time and money.
(An example would be that neon would have to be cut, drawn, filled, and sealed by hand.)

Same with most any other appearance or performance “mod", all of the work, crafted by skilled hands.

Others saw a cool performance mod to a racecar, couldn’t afford the real thing, but could fake it.
(Out came the Bondo, fiberglass, wire mesh, etc…)

Now, you can buy cheap imitations of parts, scoops, fake disk brakes, and cheap fakes for the racing mods right off the shelf.

I have recently seen all the auto parts stores replace most or all of their performance part isles with all “APC” neon shifter knobs, sticker bins, fake carbon fiber radio knobs, LIGHTED EXHAUST TIPS, etc.

All designed to mock up something that your car just "isn't".

(I would never buy any piece of APC crap, but I would LOVE to own their stock!)

So, lets break out the definition of "RICE" as it is meant today by most that use the word.
In other words, modifications in the hands of a hormonally/mentally imbalanced “in-DUH-vidual”:

Rice = cheap, fake, gaudy (overly flashy)

Examples:

· TYPE "R" sticker on your Dodge Neon.... RICE
· Sticking one windshield wiper halfway up the windshield... RICE
· Do your “Gumby pants” make it hard to shift?
· Do you have scoops on your car that do NOTHING (like have no mechanical purpose)?
· If any of your “mods” involve intentionally hiding a similar, lesser part?
· If you have stickers that even most Asians don't get (or for parts you DON’T HAVE).
· An exhaust tip diameter 3 or more times your actual exhaust diameter.
· If you have “powered by (anything)” anywhere on the car.
· If you've spent more on stickers than you did on actual performance parts.

So often, I see people driving these CIRCUS FREAK VEHICLES, with tachometers bigger than their head, screwed to the dash with wood screws.

The shift light is working, but they’re in denial about the fact that their car is an AUTOMATIC!

And some cars have more lights on them than those ships from “CLOSE ENCOUNTERS Of The Third Kind”!

Meanwhile the next car drives by in the parking lot and I see the guy peering through the letter “O” in the HUGE “Honda” logo taped diagonally across most of his window.

FREAKSHOW.

I have nothing against making your car look nice.
But as a rule of thumb, if its sold in the isle of an auto parts store, its bolt-on, mass produced, and designed to attract those that are trying to make their cars "pretty" (like a $10 whore is “pretty”), then forget it man.

This goes for those cheap chrome accessories for V8s and those fake braided hose covers too!
I’m not going to pretend that just IMPORTS are capable of being in this category.

Hell, I know some PEOPLE that would fit into the RICE category!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

just a thought....

I ahd to reregister here as my old username(felix'sghost) became unusable for seamingly no reason? Also this board wasnt always V bulletin, it wasnt that long ago that that change took place. But thats beside the point.

I think its hillarious that so many people hate my car yet, seem to LOVE to talk about it! This thread had nothing to do with my taillight conversion, I only mentioned it joking, in passing, as the 2 parts came from the same manufacturer. Maybe the WG door mod isnt ( as said before)"ground breaking", but which thread on page one IS groundbreaking? I guess new posts arent worth posting if they dont meet "groundbreaking" standards. I love Rx7's therefore keep coming here, but I gotta say A LOT of the members here love hiding behind computers talking trash. People who have so much time that they have posted 5+thousand times, few of which are of any value!!! That leaves little time to work on or drive your RX7! It just makes me mad that people can be so rude on a computer, I would love to have someone at my shop, or at the track say something like these posts to me! Funny how it only happens on internet forums.
Any way I started this thread with nothing but good intentions, and I got shit for something totally unrelated. I guess I wont bother with new threads anymore. This forum never use to be this way, and TeamFC3S has never been this way. The members on this forum have really gone to shit. Use to be cool with people you liked to talk with, now its tiptoeing around for everyone, because of all of the judgement found here.
Funny thing is people here are so ignorant that they cant keep up a mature conversation, and will counter my statements with "well you have Integra taillights so you are dumb". Smart bunch especially Felix Wankel, have a look at the brilliant remarks he has added to this thread. Smart guy huh?! Waste of space. I mention a good for the $ HP mod, and he counters with "some Hondas have 4 wire O2 sensors". What would we do with out precious posts like that? And we have been blessed with more than 7 thousand of them!

Too many kids with little experience, knowledge, common sense or even manners. ;)

Considering all the problems FC's have with restrictive wastegates, you'd think this mod would be as common as the TB mod or air pump removal. Yet despite what Felix thinks, there are very few people on this forum who've said they've actually done it. I've certainly never seen anyone post any pics or provide a decent how-to.
So to most of the people above, stop your incessant bleating about this cars look (like we haven't heard it all before) and get back on topic. If you haven't got anything useful to contribute about modifying internal wastegates, then go play in the lounge!

NZ- sooooo well said, my scentiments exactly. THANK YOU, its good to have back up from someone respected for once. And you are right though it may not be in Felix's words "groundbreaking" but it certainly is not a common topic, but may very well should be.

originalsterm 08-07-02 11:55 PM

unfortunately, hindsight is 20/20, and there are too many people out there who have to tell everyone how smart they are. maybe it has been done before, but anyone who has a body kit knows their's isn't the only one. everyone who has done a mod to their car, isn't the only one. why did they do it and tell someone about it? it is nothing new. but i think you posting about the WG solution may have shed light on the problem for people who are new or didn't understand the solution if it had been posted previously. if someone is worried about threads that waste space because the topic has already been covered, then any senseless flaming or negativity is a waste as well. i think it's fine people don't like what you've done to your car, that is an opinion, but express it as one. don't hate on someone for doing something that you don't agree with, because in the end, it does not effect you.
