My car won't start

I went to go put gas in my 87 n/a and after I filled up with gas and tried to start it, it wouldn't even turn over. All of the lights came on, so the battery is still working. I think it's the start, but not to sure. Can someone give some tips?

battery could be low...
terminal connections not secure?
bad starter like you said...

I know the battery's not low because I tried to jump start it. I was wondering if it could be something other than the starter.

i'd check your grounds and starter terminals

Does it click when you turn the key? It doesn't sound typical of a bad starter, but it could be. I would ckeck the water level in your battery, take it to autozone and have it checked, and if it is good, charge it if necessary. Let us know how that goes.

It was a bad starter. I had to buy a new one that cost me $100, even after I exchanged my old one.

good chance your engine is flooded.....did u not warm up your car n drove to the gas station n shut it off not fully warmed? if so then your engine is flooded..

Damn u paid $100 for your starter with the core. Isn't there something out there cheaper?

anyone? please!

It was the starter for me, you can check be taking the black plug off the starter and putting battery directly to the terminal on the start. Make sure the car is in nuetral. If you hear the starter turning then it isn't the starter.
Hope this helps.

warranty

Get the life time warranty Starter... Then you'll never have to pay again..

riptyde 10-12-02 09:18 PM

The new starter is lifetime, but it still costs 100 dollars. It's a good thing I don't have to worry about paying that again.
