muffler fitment Q
I dont have access to my 7 right now and need to know widest width muffler that will fit in the stock location. I currently have 3" piping with gutted stock mufflers, I want to cut them off and get the 2 of these mufflers but i dont know if they are too wide. anyone know?

I doubt that would fit, the underbody heat shielding is a pretty tight around my Racing Beat mufflers, that they're around half that width. 10" is wide.

big mufflers

my advise is if you want a bigger muffler, or the look of it buy an oval style muffler. on my car i used an apexi WS II muffler and it was huge. it taps the heat shield sometimes, and the length the tip protrudes needs to be adjusted. remember to measure before you buy. the overall length is from inlet tip to outlet tip, and you can only trim a little off the inlet. overall i like the muffler because it's quiet and it looks nice, but was a pain to fit. the opening for the mufflers on the car is very oval, there's lots of space top to bottom but not side to side or front to back. which means you need something pretty short in overall length, narrow and tall.

anyone else have 3" muffler suggestions that aren't fart cans

buy flowmasters, hicks with 350's and ls1's in their cars usually like those

Those mufflers might fit, but it will be tight.
I use oval mufflers, though I doubt they are 18" wide: http://www.aaroncake.net/misc/rebuil...angers%202.jpg http://www.aaroncake.net/misc/rebuil...0Installed.jpg I did have to bend the heat shields a little. Everything fits, as long as you are willing to accommodate it. :) |

Apexi WS II- 15" length x 9.6" width x 6.1" height Megan OE-T- 18" length x 10" width x 6.5" height |
My car is at my shop right now and I'm at home. Next time I am there (tomorrow...) I will measure if I remember. 10" wide is not an issue for sure, and I highly doubt 18" long is either. Mine must be at least 18" long. There is quite a lot of space in the FC muffler area.
