Motor cuts out

Before anyone jumps the gun, Yes I have great compression! 90 on all faces on both rotors.

Anyway, as far as I can tell it's random. After driving for 30+min, it feels like I lose a rotor for a split second. It'll be humming along mmmmmmm brrr mmmmmmm and go on it's way. It's not while under boost, it's not while decelerating. Just when holding steady and cruising.

I've got new wires, a fuel filter that's a couple months old, I need to replace the trailing plugs but they're not that bad.

Any ideas? No emissions, no rats nest, no BAC...

Possibly a throttle position sensor? I used to own a jetta that had the same problem.

it sounds like a back fire or a miss fire.

Mankdrake 2661 03-24-07 12:27 PM

It sounds like when I forgot to hook up my OMP linkage.

Once it's warmed up and sitting idling, it'll start to miss and get worse and worse then putter out and die.

Is there a way to test the OMP?
I'm thinking of trying premixing to see if that fixes it.

Mankdrake 2661 03-26-07 04:15 PM

Alright....I'm 99% sure it's not compression related. Premixing made no difference. I change the plugs.

Still does it.

So I'm leaning more toward electrical.

1) Do the coils go out BAM all at once or can they be intermittant
2) Same question goes for the injectors

Did you check your ground at your starter and under the lim?

Mankdrake 2661 03-26-07 06:49 PM

Haven't checked them. Will do.

Check your air flow meter plug.
