Motive Fab Mounts
Does anyone have experience with the Motive Fab mounts? I'm planning on doing a REW into my FC and I'm wondering if these mounts are secure/stable enough for the vibrations a full bridgeport REW will put out. I've already searched for options regarding the REW in a FC. Just wanted to know if this is worth considering or if it's worthless.

The popular opinion is split. Some say that the design creates a huge lever action on the stock FC mounts. I agree with this and for that reason, wouldn't use these mounts. Also based on that picture, the welding looks poor and lacks penetration. Others have used them and they obviously work.
Another simple option is to just weld another crossmember to the FC subframe. Or if you don't want to solidly mount the engine, weld mounts to the subframe onto which you can bolt the FD mounts.

of course you could use poly, delrin or hardened rubber mounts.
the biggest issue i'd be worried about is the already weak mount points that cause massive oil leaks from the FD pan, with these pivot arms i could easily envision that being an even bigger problem, especially with the pizza cutters that they use for mount points to the pan. the bolt tubes need to be about 10 times as thick as the **** they used... found from home depot racing.

I have them in my FC,
Firstly it is impossible to get both sides on a s6 rew to accept the fc stock mounts
Location where the fc spark side mount needs to go.
And the fc mount.
The turbo side mount does just require re-drilling and taping, but this is very difficult to get right unless the motor is in peices.
The fc sump does line up reasonably well to the rew even with the rew front cover, have photos of that too.
With the motive fab mounts they are designed to load on the centre iron aswell like the fc mounts, this will stop most of the "lever like" forces being subjected to the rear iron. you can see how they will be loaded in this picture
Note i gave my mounts a quick splash of black...
Also the current motive fab mounts are slightly different to the ones posted before, the new ones appear stronger and also have slightly better welding
I would not say these are the best way to mount a rew,
BUT
if you are unable to pull the motor down and replace the centre iron with an fc one.
dont have access to dumy block/set up a jig for creating your own mounts/cross member
and dont want to loose you car for a month and pay someone else alot of money to make something.
These are possibly the best option via the internet.

back on subject, i would not personally use those mounts, as the flat metal that is welded holding up the engine, and taking all the stress, i almost gaurentee those welds with break, if not the welds, then the actual flat metal itself
now, if these were make with chromoly tubing and reinforced tig welded, then id say sure, these would be good engine mounts

slobbered on welds do not penetrate the base metal very well, which these appear to be done with too weak of an amperage welder.
but i'd only say it would become an issue if you really beat on the car, drag launches or drifting are probably going to break these mounts even with a moderately built setup.
Tig welders generally penetrate the best for electrical welders, some old school welders swear by gas for thinner welding because it gives the best penetration by heating everything equally.

Only other thing is the water pump filler cap does foul on the bonnet now!
this may only just be because of the spacers on the mounts, althou the mounts im using MMR are shorter then standard mounts.
Get the shortest mounts you can if your not having clearance issues!!

Dude, that's awesome. I owe you one. Looks like I'm gonna be using those for my swap. Atleast until I find someone in Northern Japan to weld a section. But if the mounts work with no problems, I'll continue to use those.
Unfortunately, the swap is gonna have to wait til spring time. But that gives me plenty of time to research what turbo I'm gonna use, and to save up the money for my build.
