Microtech or Haltec?

Im thinkin about going standalone, even though I dont have huge performance mods as of yet, just basic bolt ons it would be a good thing to already have for the future when i do start upgrading my turbo and fuel mods ya kno.

My question is, which standalone is easier to get the hang of using and learning to tune on my own? I will be getting a laptop soon so I can hook it up to that for tuning perposes (sp?). I just want to get a general idea of which one i should shoot for to get based on most of your opinions.

Please tell me the ups and downs of each one so.

Thanks
