LSD Conversion

I would like to convert my 88 Se to a lsd rear end. I have a couple of questions before I get too serious about it. First, were there any 86-88 models that had lsd, and if so can they be easily swapped, and do they have the 4-lug pattern or are they five lug? Also do you guys think I could find one in a Junkyard, and can rearends be rebuilt, if so how much does it cost if I do it my self? Would I have to make any modifications to the driveshaft or suspension? I appreciate your help any info you can give me would help alot. Thanks

I think all convertibles and turbo IIs had them and a few others, but I'm not positive about the 86-88s.
I suppose you could find it at a junkyard if you find a RX-7

Way to tell is to turn one wheel and if the other goes the other direction it is a open differential

If you spin it and the other wheel goes the same direction or doesnt spin at all it is an LSD

i know GXL's had lsd because my friend has an 88. I had the same question as yours. I wanted to change my differential to LSD off a GXL and keep my 4 lug pattern (till I get $$$ for a 5 lug conversion w/wheels). I dont know if thats possible. I believe that a turboII's differential is different. So you would need the diff., driveshaft and tranny. I know a gxl rear end drops right in. hope that helps u a bit.
