Low oil pressure. Plz help!
Well i finally got my car running with the microtech LT8! Changed oil and hoped to get higher oil pressure.. but its max 2kg! Why? what can cause the low oil pressure? i aint got any leaks! i have heard that the stock oil pressure sensor isnt that good, but i cant find any that fits! Some tips where i can find one?

hmm i dont know if mine is faulty. Is there a way to check it or something?

Put in a mechanical gauge or aftermarket electric gauge...get a NPT to BPT adaptor...The stock oil pressure sending unit stops working after a while--especially if its the original...Try a greddy oil pressure gauge or one like it...but it seems that you have found some--if so then just use the adaptor above and you should be good!

Another cause of low oil pressure is front cover o-ring failure, the S4 is prone to blowing out the o-ring between the front iron and the engine cover. This creates a situation where little to no oil is making it to the oil cooler and back to the block. It is simply pouring back into the oil pan. Hook up a manual gauge if it is still reading low oil pressure then it is one of 3 things
1. front cover o-ring 2. faulty oil pump 3. faulty oil pressure regulator |
DON'T BELIEVE THE STOCK OIL PRESSURE GAUGE.
The sender does go bad pretty often. Get a good, known mechanical pressure gauge just to double-check, as Madrx7racer and nashman69g boh mentioned. -Ted |
Just bought a new pressure sensor and gauge.. I hope its a faulty pressure gauge..
Is it had to change the O-ring? |
No o-ring needed.
You might need some thread sealant, as it's a taper (fit) thread. Good luck! -Ted |
