Limp Mode

Does a s4 have limp mode?

no. although its not smart enough to really know if the sensor is bad or its actually really -32F outside.

so for the load sensors, like the AFM, coolant temp sensor, if these are bad the ECU can't really tell, and the car might run really badly

okay so i was looking up limp mode and a guy with a s5 had a video and the symptoms he had are the sam that i am having so what should i do??

Dpends on what you define as limp mode. In ch 4 of the FSM, there is a listing of the trouble codes, and what is the default condition the ECU goes to for each code. For example, if the O2 code is present, the ECU stops closed loop operation, and defaults to a rich condition (in which it will usually drive well, but cook the cat). If it finds no water thermo sensor, it defaults to a value of 176F.

The only code that does not trigger a default condition in the CAS... without which the car will not run.

the 02 sensor part is correct.

the water thermo sensor one is a bit tricky. in theory it'll default to 176F, in practice it'll usually just believe its either -32F or 250f, which are open or short, hottest and coldest. and the car will either flood or not get enough fuel to run
