This is really cool, yet really sad...

Damn... I wish I knew I could have gotten a brand new motor from Mazda for ~$2600 before I paid to have mine rebuilt with all used parts.

I'll have to snag one of these before they're all gone. Or if they are... maybe it's time for REW swap since those are still new.

mazda remans haven't had a great track record, then again some aftermarket rebuilders don't either. best thing about the remans is the content of new parts which puts it well worth the cost.

^^^ yeah, I've seen what the Mazda deems acceptable for reuse in the FSM, and read stories on here. THIS motor though, damn!

I've got about 11K on my S5 N/A Reman. It looks new when I got it. I have had two issues though.
The waterpump gasket was bad, and it leaked after 5K miles.
The front main seal just started leaking( I have yet to change it).

All in all, the thing pulls good for an N/A and I'm very happy. I piad $1800 flat for it after taxes, the parts guy owed my friend a favor.

based on price i would guess it was a short block, can't blame the w/p gasket on the reman as it wasn't in the crate when it arrived.

Will I got the engine,

Good news is it looks like the majority of the visible parts are indeed new as expected.

The bad news, as proof that UPS Freight can break an anvil with a tack hammer...
They some how managed to break off one of the trans mounts where an engine hanger had been installed. Even though Ray had clearly marked the engine crate as hold at freight depot they delivered it to my house and my wife signed for it. I sent an email to Ray @ Malloy Mazda to see if this can be "fixed".
