just looking for info
how do you do the miata tranny swap?
what kind of gains will i get? is the 88' glx clutch type or tortional lsd? i am building a 90' gtu n/a big street port trying to break 200 wheel hp with just a fuel computer and a lot of bolt on's i just want to see if it is possable |
Searching is your best friend. The miata trans thread is only back a page or to, search then ask. Most people are gonna be harsh about not searching just giving you a heads up.

Miata tranny is not going to be happy with 200 RWHP (240 flywheel). They have trouble with 170 RWHP.

i think i can hit 200 it is possable
with the templates i am using villision motorsports is going to do the port and initial tune this car is just for fun (auto-x, track days, ect) so if it happens it happens :) |
I agree with Ted, not possible. That comes from my own personal N/A experience.
Have you considered picking up a TII trans, ds, and rear end? If not, then consider it. |

the miata tranny is happy on racecars making ~ 240 at the flywheel. (and they are not babied when driven  )
the 88 gxl has a clutch type rear end, which i would reccomend over the viscous. im having a HELL of a time getting ahold of one...got one? :p: |
i am lucky i have 3 very good salvage yards near me
(lots of fb and fc parts no tII's though) i am interested in shorter gears i need to bridge a hp gap on the track. having more gear options coming out of a corner would be a plus. my friends all did the turbo route (3 fd's between 350-500 hp and 2 fc's 400+hp) its tough to hang with them. |
i will try to send pics soon it's on stands right now adding prothane bushings
and a 4 point cage |
