Ok I have had my car up to 135 before this exhaust you all are wierd. Maybe I will give you all a ride sometime. Oh and the buzzer might have been going off but I could not hear shit so I dunno what RPM I shifted at.

SonicRaT 02-20-03 11:21 PM

190 base hp, 15.8 quarter miles, 2900lbs. If it weren't for the gearing, I'd say it was a lie. But... 325's aren't geared so well. ;) It's possible...

1987RX7guy 02-20-03 11:27 PM

Oh and this was with about 40lbs of tools and a whole bunch of stuff like my books and clothes.Proly like having my girl in the FC but without her going ahhhhhh!!!!!!!

SonicRaT 02-20-03 11:32 PM

Oh.... And about the 5th gear switch... at WOT in 5th gear the ECU knows better and doesn't run the conservative fuel map.... And yes more than 125mph in 5th gear IS possible in a NA.

13bpower 02-20-03 11:44 PM

If it wasen't obviouse I was being sarcastic. I have had my vert faster than that.

SonicRaT 02-20-03 11:50 PM

I was refering to Jimmy's comment. ;)

Digi7ech 02-21-03 12:12 AM

I hit 120 as I hit redline(7k) in 4th and the max I've gone is 130-ish.
I say ish because I understand it may off due to age.

As soon as I hit 5th though its a dog. Takes forever to gain.

I do alot of highway driving to work so I hit 120 every other week almost.

Jimmy325i 02-21-03 01:02 AM

I hit 135 in 4th.

Stock ecu (s4) has no idea where WOT is, seeing as the TPS is at max well below half throttle. He's got an `87 according to his screen name.... It does however know damn well when its in 5th and cuts the hell out of the fuel delivery.

Bimmers have more torque than we will ever be able to match on 2 rotors. The E36's are a bit tubbier at 3200lbs, but they're also designed to be autobahn cruisers. Top end is where they shine. Weight has less impact on accelleration while in motion. Its more of a problem getting it moving to begin with.

;) You fuckin better get a video soon
I've seen the mazdatrix vid, but would love to see another of that exhaust.

l33trx7 02-21-03 02:25 AM

yes you all have balls to drive fast...but only on freeways...i hit 130..on a backroad..there was a quarter mile straight strech and i floored it. got to 130 and then breaked like mad for the hairpin coming up...best 7 seconds of my life (at least i think it was 7 secs)

Node 02-21-03 02:41 AM

7 seconds and 130mph in a 1/4 mile stretch?
uhm, you sure it wasnt a 2 mile stretch and a couple minutes

SureShot 02-21-03 06:53 AM

Another cool feature of duals - stereo. The exhaust pops alternate from side to side when idleing.

I will when I can borrow a camcorder. The video on the Mazdatrix site is of it cruising so it is not loud. When I accelerate it is a bit loud but I don't think it is really that bad as long as you like "HOGS".

Mike Dodson 02-21-03 08:33 AM

I've got a 91 vert and have been thinking about the duals. I have the Greedy Power extreme with high flow cats now. How much louder will the header and duals be? And how much will I gain power wise? I realize "loud" is a relative term so bear in mind that being one of the old farts on this forum, (50+) try to define “loud” in terms I’ll understand.

Cavernkid 02-21-03 10:29 AM

i have hit like 135 in 5th in my N/A

SureShot 02-21-03 11:18 AM

OK - Here is a similar setup.
Dual header, two steel silencers, two cheap bombs.
Installed about 1 year ago.
Idle
zoom
(best experienced with a sub-woofer)

ya, but I have seen that video, but there is no way that it does the exhaust justice. Plus I would like to see something from directly behind the car and from inside the cockpit.

Ok well since you have a good exhaust to begin with you proly won't see that much of an improvement although you will probably get something. The sound is not "loud" it sounds like a Motorcycle like a cruser type bike like a big yamaha or something. It it does get loud when accelerating fast but when idleing and cruising at a set speed say 65mph it is great only a low rumble. I just keep liking the sound the more I drive it. You will probably like it but it is $,$$$ so think about it carefully.

87turbo2 02-21-03 05:03 PM

Since this is a recent exhaust thread, I'd like to ask a ?:
Which actually can deliver more power?
I want a dual set up. I know I can get the mazdatrix header and then have 2.5-3" duals put on <no cats, no silencers >, or is the RB header better, or is the Pacesetter just as good?
I did a search and didnt get anything. Just curious if there are any dyno sheets or links that may compare the systems.
Thanks

Jimmy325i 02-21-03 05:48 PM

look at the threads for collected and uncollected primaries (exhaust pipes) and for short and long primary headers. All of them make different power. Not really more or less per se, but different. The true duals make more bottom end pull and the mid lenght collected single outlet header RB sells as streetable is a compromise for "all around" performance.

87turbo2 02-21-03 06:20 PM

Ive got a 3100lb car with 160hp stock...uhm more is needed! I could care less about sound, and Florida has no emissions testing. So Wonder what the RB road race headers and some 3" duals would net me? The car may have 120-130rwhp..I would hope for 140-150 with full exhaust, sound feasible?

Jimmy325i 02-21-03 06:44 PM

Where do you want the powerband to be? 3" duals will actually cut your exhaust velocity and porobably kill some torque. Mazdatrix has some really great info on exhaust if you'd just look at it you could learn a lot.

RyosukeTakahashi 02-21-03 10:26 PM

for those of you who want to see what the set-up looks like (besides the one on mazdatrix) here is my true dual exhaust I recived on tuesday.

P.S. its with RB mufflers
