Jacobs FC1000 ignition box

Has anybody used the Jacobs fc1000 ignition system on there cars? http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...25143&x=16&y=7

How does it compare to MSD and Crane ignitions? I've heard of a few people using them on RX7's with good results and saying it was better than MSD or Crane.

chumma7 01-01-05 02:26 PM

i have one and am happy with it. easy to install, looks good.
def noticable inprovement in spark and a cleaner burn.
i felt a good increase in torque
dunno how it compares to an msd or crane

Did you use the same instructions for your fc1000 as the instructions for MSD 6A on Reteds site?

Kenteth 01-01-05 03:30 PM

search, its been covered many times

Silverfc88 01-01-05 03:43 PM

I already searched, I didn't find to much info on the FC1000 in a 2gen. Have you used the Fc1000 ignition?

If you don't have any usefull info to post then don't post at all instead of being a post whore and jacking your post count up.

I'm powering each LX91 single post lead coil with a FC1000. The other FC1000 is underneath the one you see. May have to upgrade your coil as any ignition amp can burn up the stock coil. Go the less costly route with a dual post Accel coil and one FC1000. RP says they've seen fewer failures with the Jacobs vs. MSD, Crane, etc. Just splice into the harness and use all-weather connectors so that you can bypass the box should the need arise, ie. box failure.:)

ECU > ignitor > FC1000 > coil.

Wonder how that compares to the Rotary Pro Pak.

mark57 01-02-05 01:09 PM

Rotary Pro Pack burned up two stock lead coils, so I went to two single-post coils that eventually caused to Pro Pack to burn up. I should've used a single dual post coil or two Pro Packs. FC1000/2000 are regarded to be much more bullet-proof.

Look carefully at the championship Captain America car. They had four Rotary Packs in there; major mega-sparkage goin' on.

Silverfc88 01-02-05 03:38 PM

Damn that is alot of sparkage!

Thanks for the info.

I tried looking for a dual post coil with igniter but I couldn't find any. I looked around Accel and Crane in the summit site but I couldn't find any. Where can I find one?

functional, but i think you need to buy a grinder :P

I don't like the Jacobs stuff cause of their over-the-top advertising.
Some of their (old) claims were too good to be true.

I prefer the Crane Cams HI-6.
Due to rising prices, the Mallory Hyfire VI for $120 is a good option - check Jegs.COM.

There have been problems with the FC1000 box - do a search, it should pop up.

About the only "plus" about the Jacobs products is the "lifetime guarantee" they offer on some of their units, otherwise all thes CDI boxes all work about the same.
If one of them claims theirs is "better", be wary.

Be careful about making implication of the Jacobs stuff on the RX7.COM race car.
There is this thing called "sponsorship" that tends to skew on what products are the "best"...

I just received the latest Summit catalog and don't see the two-post coils either. I will check into this further.

My Buddy Ott had an FC-1000 on his third gen bumping up the primary spark.... Worked great for him... Its going in my car next week cause he stepped up a notch.

Silverfc88 01-03-05 11:18 AM

Yeah I've heard different opinions on the fc1000 ignitions, but most of them have been good from what I've heard. So I'm going to try it. I like to be different anyways.

I might try using the stock T2 coil for now. I'm going to try and find a dual post coil and have it laying just in case. I don't know if I can I've looked around on different sites like accel, msd and crane and the only one I've found was on the accel site and it was a gm replacement dual coil.

mark57 01-03-05 12:37 PM

Jeg's has this.....http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...13&prmenbr=361

I'm told that the TII lead coil is stout.

eViLRotor 01-03-05 01:20 PM

I have an FC1000 on the way as well. Guess we can all compare notes :)

Silverfc88 01-03-05 02:01 PM

Damn! Checked Summit out and the Ignition is not there anymore just the FC4000! What the hell!

The Fantasy Island Technical Advisor knows all. Don't wussy out on us; by all means slam every product carried by Rotary Performance.

Chris made 402 WHP for me.

RETed made a seashell necklace and sold it to a tourist for $4.02, enough for a Happy Meal at McDonald's on the big island.

I should yank that Jacob's shit and use whatever the fuck RETed uses on his pile.

Slamming someone because you do not agree with them shows a lack of maturity as well as poor emotional control in general.

Jeg's has the FC1000 http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerc...36&prmenbr=361

....and at a good price.
