J-SPEC Flash to pass lamps
 

so who has this on your 7?
i would need to know if this needs rewiring or if this is just a plug n play.
does replace the headlights?

You need to drill carefully the back of the lens to the correct size. Need to buy a rubber bulb socket that you can find in most auto parts. Put a bulb in the socket and put it in the back of the lens and done. I dont think this can bright more that your headlights, but you can wire the cables to turn the lens on when you turn on your parking lights.

they are made out of glass, and do not replace your headlights, and do not plug and play, you have to run your own wire to the head light for it to work with the passing switch. at least is what i was told. if you need more info call corksport they have them available

this is what it says on corksport.com:

"These are a direct replacement to your stock flash-to-pass lenses. The difference in these Japanese ones use 168Wedge style bulb as light instead of the headlight."

The lens is different and it has a 5 watt bulb in it. You should wire in day time running lights.

This one doesn't look like it's the JDM FTP. Usually the 'real' JDM front also has diff. Driving lights. it has 2 bulbs in there from what I know and have..

Maybe the headlights reactractions are disabled. haha

We (CorkSport) do sell those. They are a plastic lens, and have more diffusing marks on the inside of the lens. The require some wiring, and are best wired up as running lights, similar to parking lights

i got that pic from corksports site. they are selling those ftp lense w/ lights. a little bit on the pricey side though. just wanted to know if its worth the trouble of getting one for that price.

They're sorta spendy, but they're also brand new OEM parts. We don't sell used stuff except for rare instances.

wow so much mis-information here.

first of all the first pic looks like the usdm ftp lenses with the headlights down shining through them.

second, the jdm lenses arent glass...:scratch:

third, to use them you will need to make your own wiring or tie off the stock fog light wiring if your car came with it.

the only thing that is the same between the usdm and jdm lenses is their shape. everything else is different.

How much would they costs if you were to run a GB on them?

I thought I had read that they were glass cause the bulbs would melt the plastic ones... Though I guess if they are only being used for flash to pass then they wouldn't really ever be on long enough to melt anything...

The bulbs in them are small 5 watt bulbs... same thing as your side marker lights.

Never saw the point of these lights at all. With them in there you can no longer flash to pass, as the back of the housing is not clear.

I've got them installed on my car. They use the same plug as the orange side markers on the front bumper. Unfortunately, if you want both to work, you'd have to tap them into that wire.

As far as brightness, they aren't bright at all. They only turn on when you turn on your driving lights, unlike the JDM cars where they actually use them as a Flash to Pass.

I thought the JDM ones were to be hooked up so that when you do "flash to pass" these bulbs come on and would produce similar lighting as flashing the headlights through the USDM ones. Though red_s5_fc3s says they aren't very bright so I guess they would kinda suck. :(



Do you mean the side marker on the front fender or the turn signals in the front bumper?

Here are a few pictures I took this morning for someone who was asking about the J-Spec FTP. Same car two different angles.

The side markers on the front fenders. They plugged right into the socket. I had to choose to either have one or the other. If you want both to work, you'll have to tap them into each other.

i dont know if they are jdm or not but i have personally seen them made out of glass. euro maybe? i dont have them but i will look for a pic of one.

I'm sure with a relay or two and maybe a diode here or there they could be wired up to be on with the parking lights and actually flash to pass when the headlights are down.

i have them as well. They are not bright. What i did was i took out the 5w regular bulb and put in an 2LED ultra white bulbs.

If you want to make it brighter, you could use a dremal tool, cut the back and insert reflectiv material like the silver coating in the indicator lights.


or you can hardwire new bulbs and rewire using a switch and fuse.
