intake manifold

i just put a 89+ intale manifold and i have a vacuum leak
right where the manifold goes to the engine and i took it off about 3 times to try to fix the leak and it still has a leak but right now it is less than the other times and i just bought a new gasket not that long ago but i had it on with my old manifold and it idles at about 1500 rpm but the first time i had it on it idled ok at about 800rpm and it had a leak.what would make it go up to 1500rpm and how do i fix the leak. And what are the torque specs

around 20 pounds of torque should be ok. about the leak, look over (and replace if needed) all vac. lines.

I've had this problem before, after the third R&R of the turbo and intake manifold I traced it to a tiny piece of old gasket still stuck to the rotor housing. It was hard to see and even harder to get off!

i repalace almost all vacuum lines when i put a new gasket but this is when i had my 86 intake manifold on but i put a 89+ manifold and now it leaks and the gasket is about one month old and i don't think it leaked when i had my 86 manifold on.what if you put more than 20 pound of torque

You'll probably snap a stud/bolt. Haynes specifies 14-19 ft-lb, so I wouldn't go over 20.

ok i will torque it down to 20 them i just came back from mazda and they want 30 for the gasket and i bought it for 5 from racing beat and can you use the gasket more than on time because i did so i don't know if that would make it leak and the gasket have is the metal one

what kind of gasket is better the metal one or the paper
