Installing SSQV on flange???? GRRRRR@)#(@(*@$*(*@$ Need help!

Ok, ive bought the whole kit.. i know were everything goes. But how in the fuck do you get that STUPID @#)(@)($#*@$(* ring into the designated groove in the flange! Stupidest design EVER, my god i could have swaped engines in the same time it took me to fuck around with this stupid ring...

Seriously, is there a special tool that makes this a peice of cake??

Retaining ring pliers.

FC3S Murray 04-07-07 07:34 PM

OR named snap ring pliers. Go get the universal internal/external snap ring plier at Sears

Be careful throwing the word stupid around. This is a very common and effective retaining method.

HA. I've grown fond of the turkey7

having just had one of these put on...don't use cheap snap pliers...they break. Also, removing the little housing helped tremendously.

Also, I haven't tried it, but I read that you can use those 45* bend needle nose pliers to do it as well.

apexFD 04-07-07 11:02 PM

Well its not a stupid design.. i got frustrated.

But regardless im just gonna go buy the right tools. Thanks for the help.

Even with snapring pliers, it is a real bitch to do it without damaging the BOV, or scratching the pipe. IT really is somewhat of a poor design IMO. IF you want to use a snap ring, fine, but don't locate the bastard directly under the body of the BOV, and also don't use one that you have to apply 100ft-lb of torque to in order to release.

I raised hell while swapping the one thats on my car. THe trick is to remove ALL those 11ty billion little allen head bolts from the BOV cover.

hey kevin .. on a side note what exhaust is on your car? 3" greddy evo ?

RotaryResurrection 04-09-07 01:14 PM

I think I'm gonna have to put that info in my signature just to keep the questions down. I did a 3 page writeup about the build of the car a month ago but people still ask almost every day.

Greddy power extreme dual. No longer available new, I believe.
