I just bought a pair of fog lights and the following picture show what is there. I'm wondering what other parts do I still need to get that thing light up and be functional. I got the light the bracket and a wire that attach to light as you can see, but I'm not sure what else do I need. HELP ME OUT HERE for getting rest of the parts, like you can list the parts here so I can go research them and get them.

Hey guys, can I wire the wire to the light that light up the amber when you click once on the head light switch? So if I do that I don't really need a switch because as the amber light turn on, the fog light goes on too, so help me out here. If that works please let me know what other parts do I need for this to be funtional.

you should use a relay, and use the parking light as the switch, because if u wire directly into the parking lights, u risk ruining the wire, and with the relay, u will get much better lighting... your going to have to drill holes into ur bumper support to mount the lights... and u should definitely wait atleast a day for someone to reply... not just 5 hours...

 

^^ Ignore chinkster... Stock harness is fine. If you plan on putting some crazy wattage bulbs in them. then yes.. .upgrade the wiring... The stock wiring is rated for the stock 55watt fog bulbs.. don't go over that.

but, it looks like you have most of the ingredients.. All you need is the relay for your bumper area. There's a green (I think.. maybe blue) plug that isn't plugged into anything near the other relays at the front of the car (near the hood latch). Throw a post in the for sale/wanted section for a fog light (430) relay. I might still have one laying around.. I'll check tomorrow in the daylight, but I think I already sold it.

you can just use the OEM factory switch. I have an extra one if you want and I'm in the bay area so if you want you can pick it up or we can meet up somewhere. PM me if you need the switch

ps. i ran my own wiring from lights to wiring harness and relay, to a switch.

 

Yeah, but he doesn't NEED to run ANY wiring.. Wouldn't hurt... but his car already has all of the wiring in place. Don't fix it if it aint broke. . I forgot about the switch.. yeah, you'll need that. I have a spare as well for sure. If you want it.. let me know.. but it sounds like that other guy has one you could get.

JonesFromIndia: I'm assuming you used an S5 bumper? If you used an S4 bumper, I'd LOVE to see the install job. I have a couple friends that would LOVE to put S5 fogs in their bumpers.

 

sowwy, my whole s4 is pretty much converted to an S5(apearance wise) it is missing things but for the most part it looks like an s5.

i did a shitty job too. i think that fiberglass bumper part was crooked cus my drivers side light is too far back.



ya if you have all the wiring just dowit like that. running wire isnt hard but it takes time.

 

hey I know the swtich suppose to install on my side at the center console, but my alarm light is occupying there. Had anyone here installed at a different location in the car for the switch?

There's 2 spots.... One is the alarm, whats on the other side? Should just be a blank black insert... pop that out and put the switch in there.

 

I retrofitted the stock s5 fogs onto my s5 non-fog car.

You need the fogs and brackets, and I usually like to get the bumper reinforcement/rebar too, because it already has the holes for the brackets. Otherwise you have to guess and drill the holes where you think they should be, and hope you get them equal on both sides. The front bumper cover has to come off to do this regardless.

Once they are mounted, you can look around where the wires for the turnsignals etc. come into the enginebay behind each headlight, you will find a gray 2 wire plug taped back out of the way. This will plug directly into your foglights. Route the foglight wiring under the headlights like the turnsignals, securing them out of the way.

Once that is plugged in, you need a relay. Go to autozone and buy a 4 prong PILOT replacement fog/headlight relay, they are on the rack beside the foglights. This will plug directly into the car's stock wiring plug. Look to the right of your hood latch and you will see a row of relays. Find the unused green 4 wire plug laying there and plug this into your relay. Use a ziptie to secure it to the metal bracket.

Now you need the stock foglight switch for the console, available from any 89-91 GXL, convertible, or turbo. The wiring exists to plug it right in, just find the connector under the console trim plate. Pop out the plastic filler panel and pop in the switch.

Now you need to find a fuse for the fusebox, the position is labeled on the fusebox lid. Install the correct amperage fuse.

Turn on your headlights, flip the foglight switch on, and awe at your functional stock foglights with NOT A SINGLE NEW WIRE RUN.

Obviously this will not work for series 4 owners since no s4 came stock with fogs.

 

You should be able to plug them right into the stock harnass, I have a 86 GXL and has plug in for the stock Driving lights. I been looking for something like that.......where did you get them?

The stock location is (from left to right) alarm and fogswitch. I switched mine... seemed more logical to have the switch closest to the driver... I also took out the incandescent bulb from the alarm one and put in an amber LED to use with my aftermarket alarm.

 

The parts you need are:
*Right and Left Fog Lights from another S5 RX-7
*Metal Brackets
Plastic Ducting (You don't REALLY need this... but it looks a LOT cleaner)
*Both wire pigtails (should have connectors on each end)
Interior switch
Fog light relay and 10mm bolt to attach it

* those are the things I have right now so, I'm missing the fog light relay and 100mm bolt to attach it, interior switch,Plastic Ducting (You don't REALLY need this... but it looks a LOT cleaner)

I want to see how is it going to look after I install mine in my car. Most I want to see white head light with yellow fog or any light as long the fog is yellow.
