installing engine/ question?????
dropped motor into car and needed to mount it to the trans. well i grab my bag of bolts, the ones i pulled out of it when i took the motor out.
well it was four bolts and one long bolts with a nut now i know the long bolt with nut goes to the starter now my problem was i put another bolt in the other side of the starter but before it tightened down all the way it got really tough like either it was bottoming out or cross threading.
so i tried a different bolt and i got the same thing
i also tried the other lower one and the same thing so i look closely at the bolts......
4 bolts 3 lengths 3 different patterns 1 bolt has a groove in it at the tip like a flathead screwdriver 1 bolt has the tip with no threads for a 1/4 inch or so
1 bolt is regular i believe they are all the same thread pattern but i am stumped
Now question is am i supposed to have different typ bolts and if so does anyone know which spot they go in or did someone before me just find bolts and throw them in there
and if thats the case what are the correct ones pattern and size and length

Yes.......The one lower starter bolt is a 1.50 pitch. I cannot remember the exact lenght but it is one of the shorter ones in your bag o bolts. If you used other bolts from your bag already on the top....you probably already used the on you need.
The sizes are all the same except that one pitch so if you need to go to Ace hardware just take one wiht you and remember the pitch.

I just did a clutch swap and may be able to help you out here. I am pretty sure there are a total of five bolts that holds the tranny to the engine. These 5 do not include the two that holds the starter to the tranny. (1)The longer bolt with the slot on the end for a screwdriver goes on the top of the tranny off senter towards the p/s of the car. (2)You have a second bolt that is just off to the side of the long one(towards the p/s of the car). (3)You have a third on the p/s - bottom side of the tranny. (4)The fourth is only accessable after you take the starter off. (5)The fifth is above the starter, but below your oil filter.
If I am mistaken on any of these someone please feel free to correct me.
