heres the first drawing i have came up with, its a top view of the engine plan, the piping/intercooler and the wheel wells.

its all to scale, 1 square is 1"

i tried to put all the major things there in the picture and there all measured out and in correct placement.

I can't wait to see this when you finish it. Not enough people in our community go to such great measures as you are planning on doing, so your finished project will immediately stand out.

thanks man, im really going all out on this because ive never seen anything like it done, the final product will be something. hopefully no more then a couple weeks/month out from really getting into it and getting things put together. all the support on this is really helpful guys :D

im really getting excited about this whole thing.

Forgive me if you said it already, but what are you going to do with the stock wiring/coil/fuse block...?

tonyreifel 07-16-10 12:35 AM

i plan on doing a full wire tuck, everything i can fit will be nice and neatly tucked behind the dashboard. the stock wiring harness will be shortened and extended in certain places as needed. some things that i really cant relocate such as the igniter coils will stay in the engine bay just moved elsewhere to a more convenient location i believe ill keep the battery in the bay just angle it better and make it stand out less or possibly put it in a covered box in the bay along with the fuse box.

my intention is to make the car look virtually unwired and like just a engine and nothing more. thats the look i get from the rb 240 at the beginning.

no biggie it was a good question, im gonna be doing my wiring harness drawing pretty soon too. ill get it posted when i have it done and where things will be tucked and any distances thatll need changing.

if anyone is really interested in this when its all done i might do a full write up on everything necessary and all the steps i took. or have taken so far.

Relocate the battery for sure. Will give it a way cleaner look:icon_tup:

think so? ill look into doing that, im pretty sure that the drift track up here requires it being in the engine bay and tied down, maybe not if its in a marine box or something. ill look into it tonight.

sorry havent made any progress today, ive had to go to the er twice in the past day i got bit by a brown recluse so ive been getting loaded with shots and sleeping. my arm looks horrible so ill be gettin back into this within the week. ill post some pics when i start getting parts for the vmount and start doing all the pipes,

should i do welded edges on the pipes or bend them?

Slideways FC3S 07-17-10 10:26 AM

mandrel bent piping ftw. welded edge works but to many and it causes disturbance in air flow, especially with radical bends 90 120 180. plus bended looks nicer. rotary-works has a pretty good setup for a v-mount on a FC.

tonyreifel 07-17-10 11:54 AM

might look into it, pretty sure im doing all custom vmount stuff though so well see. off to cash a paycheck and see where im at.
