Im interested in a 2+2 kit for my 7 HELP

I ddid a search and i couldnt find what i need, i wana know if they make a back seat kit that dont tear anything up, like to replace my storage bins.

vectorminds 07-25-03 01:17 PM

im preety sure that the the factory 2+2 option will just drop in there in place of the storage bins... and that the clips and everything are all there

so id guess that you just need to obtain a rear seat from somewhere.... ebay... junkyard... forum

but then what do i know, my car doesnt have either :)

Mephis 07-25-03 01:42 PM

well, the 380bl weight limit has me worried now too

Fitness Stain 07-25-03 03:29 PM

the backseats wont be able to accomodate much anyway....

someone i was talking with (i cant remember who) said that when they rode in the back, it was the most uncomfortable thing in the world......thier head was at their knees, and the back pain was great.....

Bio-Weapon 07-25-03 03:57 PM

i saw a 2+2 once and i dont think even my cat would be comfortable in the back seats. extra weight too.

White_Seven 07-25-03 04:24 PM

I had a 2+2 in my car that, believe it or not, I used to rie in.......but that's when I was a kid (step-dad was original owner of the car). Once I hit teenager years, there was no way to comfortably fit back there anymore, and I am no tall monster of a person either. I took mine out a couple weeks ago since the car is downed for a T2 swap right now. :D

chexmix78 07-25-03 04:27 PM

at best you can fit one adult back there, but they would have to face sideways with there legs up on the seat.

kiker14 07-25-03 04:42 PM

I have a 2+2 and am 6 feet tall. I have looked at the back seats, and haven't even thought about attempting to sit in them. The only way I'm going to have more than one passanger is if my hatch is empty and the person doesn't mind lying down in it... I'm most likley eventually going to take out the "back seats" (they are too small to even call real seats) and put some subs in their place... but i think first i should get the car working... :-)

Fitness Stain 07-25-03 05:40 PM

so long story short.....

DONT DO IT...

theres obviously no point....unless you have a small kid, who refuses to sit shotgun

1SxyRXy 07-25-03 05:51 PM

i just orderd some and am going to get them reapolsterd. i think it will look better IMO

charger- 07-25-03 06:23 PM

I've fit 6'2" people many a times in the back seat for short trips. No you couldn't tour across the country with someone in the back seat, but for short trips its fine.
Sit sideways with ass on one side, feet on other side. Head will be tilted slighly as to not hit roof.

And guys... the seat does't weight that much. Before you talk about weights fo these things, you may want to compare the bucket assemblies with the seat....

BobbyRX 07-25-03 11:03 PM

Its not so bad guys. I have to haul my friends to and from the bar in my back seats. They might bitch and complain, but they can "get da fuck out" if they don't want a ride. Personally, I'd take the ride.. I even had a friend drive so I could ride back there and see what all the bitching was about... its not bad, as long as you don't mind humping you're friends back if they stop suddently. ;)

The seats are great because you can throw stuff in the back and not have it fly all over the place (it just stays in the bucket) the cargo bins would be a little of a point to turn around and dig for stuff where you can barely see. (definatly don't look in the bins while driving on the freeway!).

I concur - I find the Seat assembly (now removed) to be extremely lightweight. :)

Wait so can't you just lie to your insurance company and say that you have 2+2 seats to lower your insurance. Then just take it off later?

ZachSpazz 07-26-03 02:40 AM

My old GXL was a 2+2, and at one time, I actually had three people sitting in it.

It was awful.

Dltreezan 07-26-03 02:51 AM

lmao blown engine mod---- nice sig

RoninAutoBoX 07-26-03 03:31 AM

I always thought that the 2+2 was quite a lark.

RoninAutoBoX 07-26-03 03:33 AM

You know......with the 2+2, you would actually be able to recline your seats all of the way. It wouldn't come in much handy unless you had a hot date, but still, you would actually be able to hit it in your Rex. :D

Dltreezan 07-26-03 03:50 AM

heres an idea...........get one of those mazda mpv's....swap a jspec t2 motor....there are some models that have all wheel drive.......lower it on some 17''s........custom exhaust........insurance would be great, and you could rally with the whole family!! The mazda MPx7!! Seat six.....

Dltreezan 07-26-03 03:55 AM

damn they couldnt find my last posthttps://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1999459

0pistons 07-26-03 04:07 AM

the back seats are a direct swap for the bins...and they are.....SIX POUNDS HEAVIER...so really no differemce...and i have had 6 people in my 7 talk about uncomfortable lol!!!!! the back seats are not that bad i have driven 3 hours with my 6' 230 lb friend in the back...and he saud it was bad...but not THAT bad...besides the bins are useless amd back seats are nice for a 18 year old kid who wants to take his friends along!

BobbyRX 07-26-03 04:08 AM

Yes you can recline all the way.. and yes, I've thought about that, but was -- this close to "testing" the theroy.

My mom writes insurance (but isn't an agent) and she told me I should be getting a discount for the 2+2 option since its, "not really a sports car if it has 4 seats up to a certain HP rating". Everything except collision is running me $77/mo (almost full coverage).

I met a girl that said she fit at least 6 people in her car. She had the same exact car as mine (her mommy's car), it was even white. A guy was sitting halfway on the console and in someone's lap. Talk about a mess if they were in a wreck. Stupid people..

Soundave 07-26-03 04:23 AM

I loved my rear seats! They may not be the most comfortable thing in the world to sit in, but like BobbyRX said, they're great for keeping things from sliding all around in the back. I'm 5'9 and the seats don't feel too bad. I love how the buckle is as big as my fist...

0pistons 07-26-03 04:24 AM

$77/month?
that is amazing insurance on an rx7.

Dltreezan 07-26-03 05:10 AM

ive got 33 a month
