Idle Problems
 
I search but i could not fine the answer I just got the car a 87 T2. car idle @ 1600-1800 rpm cold or hot dosn't change. The kid i the car from said, after engine warms up the idle would sometime fluctuate up & down. but i haven't seen it yet the car not on the road, he said it mite be the thermalwax or tps. what is the thermalwax & were is it located. Any help on solving my idle problem would be greatly appreciate Thanks Tony

have you checked to see if the trottle plates have been sticking?

there is a little screw that the throttle plate rests on and if that is screwed in to far it will increase the idle. also the thermal wax thing is a little wax pellet that increases idle when cold and then it melts when it heats up. i just took mine out. makes it hareder to start when cold but i like it better.

Where is the thermal wax located

When i first start the car it idle @ 1100 rpm as the car warms up the idle jumps up to anyware between 1600-1900 rpm an stay there any tips. It's kind of cold out side about 15, so not much i can do right now just looking for some tips so when it gets alittle warmer out i can work on it. Thanks Tony
