I would avoid the bumps, they can get you in trouble.

This is an excellent example of a vacuum (boost) leak. Get some ether or carb cleaner and spray it around until you hear the engine rev, the vacuum leak should be near the last place that you sprayed. (It is often convenient to remove and bypass the intercooler when looking for vacuum leaks.)

fc3sdude 01-12-08 11:31 PM

Im NA and what do you mean by spraying carb cleaner were, I dont understand that.

Barn Dirt 01-13-08 12:27 AM

Spray it around the vacuum lines. It'll create a seal where there was a leak, which will cause the engine to rev. When you hear it rev, you'll know you've found your leak and can replace the hose or what have you as necessary.

It Doesnt Stay Started That Is What I Said.

DavidHolmesIII 01-13-08 02:11 AM

If you stay on the gas will it keep running? also if it kept running would the car idle properly if the temp is at a normal level?

fc3sdude 01-13-08 02:16 AM

Not sure im hooking up the gauges as i type.

Karl573 01-13-08 04:20 AM

Look under the hood for a vacuum leak. Something thats bad enough to make the car stall immediately without giving it more gas should be pretty obvious to spot. :scared:

fc3sdude 01-13-08 06:21 AM

Well, i have another question, would spark plugs be the problem like mine are probably completely fouled out. so if that is the case would that do that.

w0ppe 01-13-08 06:33 AM

Before some sort of admin troubles start happening... DON'T BUMP!
This isn't a different website that you know the name of...
If you bump, it looks like it's been answered and we won't bother...

Onto Idle Issues!
Check out the Factory Service Manual for Idle troubles as well. TPS could be out of adjustment and such.
Do typical maintenance things as well (Spark plugs, Fuel Filter, etc.)

fc3sdude 01-13-08 03:43 PM

K i will check some things today.
thanks.

fc3sdude 01-13-08 05:56 PM

Well found out that i need some plugs and wires not getting any spark, so that is what is next.

Azn_Boi 01-13-08 06:56 PM

I guess you found the problem, but I have something to add for future reference if anyone else comes to this thread. It could also be the alternator, i had this problem and couldn't figure it out for like several days. The alternator was jumpy on charging and sometimes the car would start losing voltage and just die.

fc3sdude 01-13-08 08:01 PM

Well did it ever start up and then just die instantly, It will crank, start up rev at like 2grand then just kill over and die.
any help, besides spark issues

fc3sdude 01-14-08 04:33 PM

Well found out that the car was out of gas. Starts but wont hold idle just kills over, So does any one know what might cause it not to hold idle. Let me know asap.
Thanks.

You just said the car was out of gas..........

Killert2 01-14-08 04:52 PM

fc3sdude 01-14-08 04:54 PM

fc3sdude 01-14-08 06:04 PM

Well would it help if i turned the idle screw, what way is which, left air, right air, or left fuel, or right fuel. Im not sure which way.
And is it on top of the TB.

EnsenCorp 01-15-08 10:44 AM

Ya, I read the post. You were having a problem saying it wouldn't start..............
Then it was out of gas, which is humorous in itself.
You mentioned nothing about putting gas back in it.

Check your TPS Sensor, I had a rough Idle problem, unplugging mine made it go away.

I also had a problem with it not wanting to start last week. Your BACV might be bad, I changed mine out and viola, running FC

Or add gas hahahahaha

fc3sdude 01-15-08 10:55 PM

BAVC, what it that, let me know quickly.
I replace the TPS wanted to start quicker but will try that.
Yeah i just relized that i didnt put that in the post.
Thanks and let me know.

arghx 01-15-08 11:35 PM

first, you need to check for vacuum leaks. second, the procedure for setting the throttle body adjustment screws are in the fuel and emissions section (nonturbo) of the FSM.
