Identify this part on Charge harness
 

I was redoing my Crank angle sensor wire (Replacing it) on the charge harness and I broke this part? Now car doesn't appear to start. Could be my new IGN-1A coils and adaptronic setup (Car started right away before this change)

What is this part and what is its function?

That is the condensor for the trailing coils. That shouldn't keep the car from starting as far as I know.

(The oil pressure gauge has one of these as well, but the plug is different.)

make sure your settings are right to start up the car Ian.
By the way,do not alter settings with the Coils attached to the harness as you CAN fry the Coils. (did it and got the T shirt..and had to get another Freakin coil!..smoked the bugger!)

So while doing the dishes it dawned on me that i didn't attached the ground wire for the SBgarage harness for the coils. :) So today after babysitting (Wife says its not babysitting when your looking after your own kids!) gonna hook it up and tonight gonna try again.

So my car has two of these. one by the trailing coils which I just broke as well and another one down near the bottom.

I assume the one on top is for the trailing coil what is the other one for?

Post #2. Many go w/o them and don't have problems. What you want to make sure is the remaining wire is not grounded.

I see he identified both. Mine are both identical. Plug and all. Just on goes to a Black yellow wire and one to a Yellow red wire.

other one is for controlling spikes to the stock oil gauge.

I'm in the middle of putting my car back together and I had the same question. Where does this thing attach to? Mine is near the back of the engine.

The condensor for the oil gauge was originally mounted on one of the clutch slave bolts.
Any good ground location will work though.

Ya My car has been apart for years. No idea were it went. I just put it on anything metal. I was surprised at how easy it broke though. Wire is brittle. Car never saw a winter too.

NP. I had no idea what those were for. After the post tried to find it on the service manual. Doesn't show where they go. Or at least I can't make out where it goes.

This part was possibly one of the worst designed parts on the car. They break VERY easily.

I just pulled mine off the clutch slave cylinder last night and it's hanging on by a strand.

It isn't neccessary, so you can just cap off the wire and wash your hands of it.

Hell, Mine are both intact but I have been contemplating removing the one for the oil pressure sensor so that the gauge responds quicker.

That won't happen.
The gauge is internally dampened, removing the condensor won't make it more lively.

So I dont need these? They serve no purpose?

I noticed my second one under the Trailing coil when I removed it last night. It looked to be intact.

The one near the coil should help prevent radio noise, IIRC. They're both good to have and use, but as said, not life and death needed.
