I plan to do a 5 lug conversion, but am having trouble finding a write up.
1987 rx-7 fc n/a
So i have a 4 lug that i wish to convert to a 5 lug...but I am having a difficult time trying to find a write-up for this. The only ones I have found involved a dead link and aaroncake's "How to install 4 piston brakes on a 4 lug". I imagine the complexity of this will not be too severe, so I am not worried about that. What I am concerned about are the parts required. I need to basically do this in a day or two because it is my daily, and before I begin I must gather all of the neccesary parts. Oh, and the only suspension upgrade I have done so far are some Megan Racing Track Coilovers (that really should not affect anything but just throwing that out there in case). This is what I think i need so far (please tell me if I am missing something). 1. 4 piston calipers (with pads obvi) 2. 4 piston rotors. 3. The 5 lug hubs. 4. 5 lug spindles? I read that you only need them for the rear, but please correct me if I am wrong. Anyways, this is what i came up with just from my researching, but it is most likely missing something. Thanks for reading and feed back is appreciated! |

1. 4 piston calipers (with pads obvi) Yep 2. 4 piston rotors.Yep 3. The 5 lug hubs. Yep 4. 5 lug spindles? I read that you only need them for the rear, but please correct me if I am wrong. Getting spindles all around is the easiest way. |
haha you're awesome thanks.
I guess im set then. |
You can get away with using the 4 lug spindles up front.Just put on the 5 lug hub,4 piston caliper.
just "massage" the dust shields..(they may rub,but if you bend them a touch they do work.) ..Did it got the Tshirt. |
You also need brake hoses, rear calipers, rotors.
Keep in mind, the rear has 2 brake options... Solid rotor, and vented rotor. Those parts dont interchange. |
Alright thanks guys. This has all been very helpful. Ill definately remember the hoses and vented vs. nonvented.
Ordered the spindles/knuckles from rotary resurrection last night. |
