i need some advise on fuel filters asap

well i pulled mine off and it looks like the origonal 1 to the car and i just put the motor in and it runs like crap. it isnt completly clogged but when i blow through it probly takes 5 psi before air goes through. will that create my problem? o and the fuel filter line goes to the top fuel inlet of the motor rite? car is a 88 vert non turbo

Icemark 11-20-08 03:28 PM

clogged if it takes anything to blow through

can i just put a see through filter in its place? and the main fuel line go to the top inlet or bottom?

Why are you getting cheap for a <$20 (Fram equivalent available from ANY big-name chain auto parts store) or ~$35 from the Mazda dealer?

If you can't afford a replacement filter, you should not be owning this car.

NO, you cannot use any of the see-through / glass fuel filters, since almost all of them are NOT made for use with fuel injection - they are carb use ONLY.

it was just to see if it made it run better. i JUST bearly put a straight fuel line from under the car to where it goes in under the intake and still the same thing. i cant figure it out

and by the way im only 15 so give me a break.

I suggest you either do a lot more reading and research or GET RID OF THE CAR.
Most 15-year olds do not have the capability or responsibility to own and maintain these cars.
You sound like you don't have a very good grasp of basic auto mechanics, so you're in for a lot of frustration.

Change the filter to a proper replacement bro. no need for a see thru one.

If your filter was super clogged maybe other things are too...

yeah i put a whole different sending unit in cleaned all the bad gas out of the car BEFORE i even put this motor in it i used the old top two injectors when i put my origonal wireing harness on this motor. maby my injectors are plugged

Check ur fuel pressure reg, if its the orginal one its pretty old now and may need replacing, if you have money for a aftermarket one get it or get a genuine Mazda one and yer always a good idea getting the injector clean, actually thinking about it now the S5 have the reg on the rail so maybe run a gauge on the fuel line to get a pressure reading, oh dont take RETed advice the wrong way we all wish we have a RX7 at 15 even though most of us didnt have a licence haha, but yer dont cheap on these cars otherwise they will come back and bite you in the ass three times harder.:wallbash:
